I should have quoted this post in my last. I was just saying that this scenario isn't out of the question.

I'm just hoping they'll go after Dabo. Pruitt hasn't proven anything yet as a head coach but I have a feeling he's going to end up being a slam dunk. Never felt this way with Jones.

If Pruitt gets the Vols rolling, why would anyone want to follow Saban’s footsteps? Impossible situation to step into unless you keep going 11-1/12-0.

Same reason I think Dabo stays at Clemson. Saban retiring makes Pruitt and Dabo’s jobs easier at their schools whereas following him at Bama would make their job much harder

Because he's an Alabama guy. Grew up a fan, played, and coached there. It wouldn't be a shock by any means. One good way to look at it though, it'll mean Tennessee is winning a lot.

stinks several of these higher profile kids we are after are going on officials to other schools or are getting in-homes the last weekend...
Hopefully we can still pull who we need.

I still feel good about Walker, ITS, and a few others. I hope we can hold onto Young.

What is the latest Swanny? What is the recruiting board for Wednesday?

I posted some updates around midnight last night in player threads.. Looks like a pretty good chance we end up with Walker, Beal, and and appear to be right in the mix with ITS, Copeland, Campbell, and of course 50-50 for Griffin. Signing day is going to be interesting… We can close with a few 5 stars or miss on all of them. It’s going to be fun!

Some posters trying to figure out how to spin this as failure:

Was just looking at the remaining schedule for the BasketVols. According to the BPI, they are favored every game except for 1 for the remainder of the season. The only game they are not favored in is @UK (which is barely not a 50-50 split). Doing. Work.

The last week before NSD always seems to drag along. Feels more like a month.

I would really hate to see another Kiffin situation with CJP. Legendary coach moves on. Violations start coming to light and sanctions imminent. First few coaches say no because they know they will be fired in 3-4 years once the sanctions clear. The job falls to an alumnus with a so-so W/L record as a FBS HC. I don't think it will happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if it did.

If you're going to worry about something, worry about if he is going to be a good enough head coach on Saturdays.

Agreed. Do you recall a year like this? I don’t recall a finish quite like this one. It’s possible NSD could be dud for us or it could be a complete grand slam home run or anything in between. It’s amazing to watch.

What is disparaging imo is the lack of any real info coming out of our side. I have a feeling than no one in the media has built any kind of relationship with this staff yet. So they are just throwing dart and reading tea leaves. We could end up with someone no one even had on there radar at all but the staff was really high on.

No I can’t recall a finish quite like this since I’ve been following recruiting.

I agree with what yer saying but don't really think it's disparaging. As long as the coaches do a good job then we don't really need to know anything ahead of time. It's nice to know since we're all on this forum for a reason, but if they sign a bunch of good players and we don't know until next week who they are, then we'll still be in good shape. JMO

Almost makes me miss Leb's numbers melt downs and Bruin's shady recruiting practice of the moment accusations.

Nah.

However the finish goes next week, we have learned what to expect going forward with this staff. Less talk and more action with real football players. I like it.

Yeah I agree with this. We may not get everybody we want. And that will hurt in the moment. But the bright side is that we now see the precedent being set with this staff. Relentless pursuit of the best players in the country. That's all they can control and they're killing it. It should serve us really well into the future.

I get what the BPI says, but if you think we have a majority chance of winning at Alabama rn I have some ocean front property in Tennessee to sell you.

Hey guys serious question-- I know Bama being Bama, they can swoop in on just about anyone still and grab them, even at the last minute... But I keep reading in just about every recruit's thread we are after, that Bama is somehow there or still in play...
It says they have 18 commits (17 without Walker), with three 4* DB/CB's and five DE...
There's no way they can be seriously in on all these remaining right? If Smith goes, he will be joining three 4* and will probably be hanging out on the sidelines for a year or two...

Our board according to the sites and those supposedly in the know looks like this.

QB-Walk-On in White or Purdy.
WR-Ross and Waddle (Copeland UT or UF)
OL- Nick Petit-Frere(Trending UF) or P Sewell(Trending Oregon) no back up if we miss on both
DL-Langham or add another to another position
LB-Moody if both Walker(UT/UGA/UA) and Jackson(aTm) both flip
DB- E Smith and hopefully Surtain or ITS

If Walker and Jackson flip as expected we have 7 spots supposedly after factoring in 2 blueshirts and a grayshirt from last year and B Brown who is committed but did not sign in December as staff needed to see academics for the fall.

Palmer, Griffin, and any other you see out there outside of what I listed are not coming to UA.

I agree, and that extends to off-season, fall camp and, especially, injury news. I hope Pruitt runs a tight ship and keeps that mess bottled up. It does no good for crap to leak and fans to speculate for days (or weeks!) on end about all of it.

Rusty Mansell was on 680 and said towards the end of his interview that UGA needs to worry about Pruitt. He said there are going to be some huge battles going forward and UGA fans already know what he can do in terms of recruiting.

He knows Pruitt dug the foundation to that fence Kirby has built. He has all those connections still. He also know Pruitt would love to stick it to Kirby ever chance he gets
