Yeah he would've been sacked in a real game on the scramble play. That one we are thinking of the same play. There was another play on the quarter before, I'm pretty sure, where it was the same play but it went over Abernathy's shoulder because he was running towards Callaway. If he was looking at JG it would've been a pick 6.

Total speculation and what if scenarios. And, I disagree he would have been sacked.

I look at it as a win-win-win situation. If Chryst comes in and earns the job and keeps it while JG learns the system. Good. If he comes in wins the job but loses it later in the year because JG is better. Good. If he comes in and pushed JG to be better. Good. I don't see why you guys are looking at it in a ways that the sky is falling because JG doesn't start against WVU (hypothetical)
Not saying the sky is falling. Just saying that it’s not hard to foresee a situation where Chryst gets the nod, JG ends up leaving, and it puts us behind the 8 ball in regards to 2019 because we’ll go into a 2nd straight year with uncertainty at QB.

If JG gets beat out and doesn’t leave.. we still have uncertainty in 2019 regardless because obviously the coaches don’t like/trust whatever him.

On a madden style rating scale if Fall camp rolls around and the coaches think JG is say a 78 but Chryst is a 80. I would still think they would start JG.

I know that Chryst isn't coming here thinking he is the back up. It will be interesting. I just hope we don't get a fractured team like last year. Scares me to think if Chryst gets the nod if a lot of guys will be ticked off about it and not get behind him.

Speaking for myself I'm not saying the sky is falling if chryst wins the job. I'm saying I don't think he will and responding to people who seem to have written off jg with reasons why I think he's better than chryst and will win the job. I don't think we'd be screwed with chryst. He seems to be a decent game manager. I just think jg has more potential as a playmaker and to maybe win us some games we maybe wouldn't with a game manager. Given that so many think we don't have the roster to win most games, a playmaker at qb could be the difference. I think that will be jg.

Chryst can practice on his own too. It’s no different than watching a pitcher in the bullpen guys.

He’s a 55% career passer in 3 seasons.

You saw him throw some balls on the side to a ball boy and now he’s a “consistent passer”

Forgive me for calling BS

He has done better in the actual games he’s played in than JG too...

TD wise, yeah. That’s about all, though. Struggled with accuracy badly at times.

It’s hard to compare their performances because one was in a crappy situation offensively and the other never had to do more than manage a game and not fall down before handing the ball to McCaffery or Bryce Love.

This is a really bad analogy.

Pitchers in a bullpen don’t have a batter at the plate. That’s about the only difference between real pitching.

QBs throwing routes on air don’t have 250-300 pound dudes running towards them trying to smash them into the ground.

It’s why you see some kids do so well on the recruiting circuit every year tearing up 7 on 7 action and then they go on to struggle in college.

Chryst didn’t have Butch Jones or Larry Scott. Not did he have a non existent OL or an ankle injury that severely hindered his mobility. JG is not a finished product, but let’s not act like all things were equal with he and Chryst. And JG still was more accurate than him. We’ll see what happens. Whoever can win is who I want. I’m more curious about who we’re bringing in for the 2019 and 2020 classes.
