Im a huge Seinfeld game and love how it changed TV for the better (IMO, at least).
But some people just cant get into the no hugs, no lessons learned, no moral lessons or feel good stories aspect of shows like Seinfeld, Curb Your Enthusiam, or Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
I think those shows are hilarious and (because theyre more reflective of real life) more clever than most contemporary shows. But many people prefer TV that doesnt necessarily reflect real life and can provide a sense of escape or warm feelings.
FWIW, the show that strikes the best balance between the two is Parks and Ref, IMO.
Ive had the death sauce with liquid rage. It used to be the hottest but is somewhere around the 3rd or 4th hottest now. Its really hot and all, but if youre somewhat acclimated to eating ghost pepper sauces, one wing is definitely manageable. But its a lot hotter than it is good. Ive had some sauces from the pepper palace in gatlinburg that are nearly as hot but much, much tastier. A lot of sauces made from extracts instead of actual peppers are that way.
I wanna try the last dab, but its sold out ATM.
I am beginning to think the 3rd book of the King killer Chronicles will never be published, which is what I am starting to think about GRRM"s The Winds of Winter.
I actually re-read the first two books of the KKC again about a year and a half ago, because I really thought Rothfuss would have finished the 3rd book by the time I re-read them, but no. I had read that both movie and TV deals were in the works, so assumed he would have the 3rd book completed, but GOT should have taught me better, and the quality of the writing in seasons 6 and 7 of HOT went down considerably, at least IMO, compared to the first 5 seasons once Hollywood screenwriters took over. Not that those last 2 seasons weren't good; just that they have taken some real !liberties with time and space on several occasions.
Well the thing KKC has going for it is that its a trilogy, the plan has always been for a trilogy, already has two books planned (though possibly another trilogy later on) and that Rothfuss is just in his mid 40s.
ASOIAF, though...was originally planned as a trilogy, has grown into a plan for 7 books, has 2 books left to be published, and GRRM will be 70 this year.
IMO KKC is much more likely to be finished than ASOIAF.
I love both. Kingkiller is fantastic, though. I hope the third book comes out at some point. Excellent, excellent writing. If you enjoy the Fantasy genre, I strongly encourage you to read some Brandon Sanderson. He has a ton of books. My favorite series is the Stormlight Archive, but that might not be the place to start. Mistborn is incredible as well.
I do like ASOIAF and how Martin has subverted many fantasy tropes and breathed some fresh air into the genre.
I just think Rothfuss is technically a much better writer who relies much less on plot twists and cliffhangers.
I guess it kind of comes down to thme whole Stephen King question of whether its better to just to tell a really interesting and compelling story or to be a technically good writer.
I just think Rothfuss manages to do both while GRRM (at least in ASOIAF...havent read his other stuff) only does the former.
My friend has the last dab and Ive also never tried anything ghost pepper related 😭
Never watched an episode of GOT. Storyline is intriguing to me, but I hear folk run around nekked. My wife generally prefers I dont watch folk run around nekked
Ive been meaning to give Sanderson a shot sometime soon. Ive read the WOT books he wrote, but none of his own series.
Ive got a lot of respect for how quickly he can pump out novels. I wish Rothfuss and GRRM could work that quickly.
