I'll definitely look into The Kingkilker Chronicles. Part of what makes GOT so great to me is that Martin just completely flipped the script and turned the fantasy genre on its head. I've always really enjoyed fantasy, but the genre had just become very stale.

Every new book or series was a weak imitation of what came before. There is an unassuming small-town kid. Unbeknownst to him, he is the savior, and only he can save the world. He has to go on a quest and face overwhelming odds. His best friend and/or mentor will inevitably die, but good will triumph over evil in the end. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Enter Martin, and that whole tired story gets blown out of the water. He breathed new life into the genre for me. Aside from that, he develops rich, complex characters and tells one hell of a story.

If you don't like the norm of Fantasy genre you need to delve into the dark fantasy stuff

Spending $340m on Neyland stadium just seems completely absurd.

Especially since sknmuch of it will go towards improvements aimed at a minority of fans and things like luxury areas.


Like, dude, give us two new jumbotrons, improve the restrooms, and maybe put some beer taps in concession stands. That’s enough and won’t cost nearly that much.

I'm glad he's focused on Lindsey Nelson. It needs an upgrade 20x more than Neyland. And when he does focus on Neyland I'm hoping he adds seats

Just curious, but what is needing upgraded at LN stadium? Make it bigger/more seats?

I do agree that the baseball program needs to be given more cash flow. This year they have performed far better than anyone would have guessed. This new coach seems like a good one so far.

That particular reason was a huge factor according to many coaches/players/analysts in the NBA circle. Westbrook is a great player, but also had a tendency to panic in big moments especially the playoffs. He was all speed all the time, sometimes at the wrong times late in the game.

Agreed. Phenomenal athlete and scorer, just gets a little too out of control.

I love both. Kingkiller is fantastic, though. I hope the third book comes out at some point. Excellent, excellent writing. If you enjoy the Fantasy genre, I strongly encourage you to read some Brandon Sanderson. He has a ton of books. My favorite series is the Stormlight Archive, but that might not be the place to start. Mistborn is incredible as well.

I’ve been meaning to give Sanderson a shot sometime soon. I’ve read the WOT books he wrote, but none of his own series.


I’ve got a lot of respect for how quickly he can pump out novels. I wish Rothfuss and GRRM could work that quickly.

Fulmer says he is approaching $340m Neyland renovation with caution.

He spent millions on gutting a brand new weight room for football immediately. Next he's gonna throw some money at our baseball program.

I love this man. He is concerned about winning. Not building castles.

interesting. Makes sense. Do things that help in field winning first then do some updates to Neyland. There are some parts that could use some fixing in sure but I think a guy like Currie thinks what is big and shiny and going to get the most views and that was neyland

Yes he is, and I’m comforted to know we could have never landed him. To have passed on him would have been awful. Also comforted to know he is not at Florida

Watched the one where Barney joins the choir the other day. My kids were in stitches.

I've watched it since I was young and my kids watch it as well. Their 4th grade teacher would have Andy Griffith day as reward days and all the kids loved it. My kids would come home telling me about Barney everytime.

We could, but honestly don’t have time to squeeze in new shows now. She already dropped Arrow, which we watched for 5 seasons. I have to carry on alone there. I’m trying to hopefully pick up Gotham again in the future, and generally a Twilight Zone before bed. Other than that, we watch everything together

I am beginning to think the 3rd book of the King killer Chronicles will never be published, which is what I am starting to think about GRRM"s The Winds of Winter.

I actually re-read the first two books of the KKC again about a year and a half ago, because I really thought Rothfuss would have finished the 3rd book by the time I re-read them, but no. I had read that both movie and TV deals were in the works, so assumed he would have the 3rd book completed, but GOT should have taught me better, and the quality of the writing in seasons 6 and 7 of HOT went down considerably, at least IMO, compared to the first 5 seasons once Hollywood screenwriters took over. Not that those last 2 seasons weren't good; just that they have taken some real !liberties with time and space on several occasions.
