Everyone says this but outside of 2-3 runs he never lives up to the billing. His TPC totals were hardly elite and he never broke away with long runs. He cost us the Georgia game (nearly another). His best games were against BIG opponents in bowl games. He was an okay back that had tons of carries.

Obviously you don’t like him, but he was a great running back. He lived up to his billing, and should’ve been the all-time leading rusher after 3 years. He won a couple of games for us, i.e.; 2016 falling on the fumble in the end zone to win the game. I blame our coach as much as Hurd for his final demise. He’ll do well at Baylor this year.

People toss around great way too easily. Hurd was good.

He was not a great RB. His YPC was garbage, and he got arm tackled way too much for as big a dude as he was. He was a good RB that got a billion carries which fluffed up his totals. If I hear one more time about how he was almost the all time leader in total yards...I am going to puke. In the context of YPC it is a garbage stat.

Field vision was below average also. Consistently made wrong cut.

He was almost the all time leader in rushing, you know

But...he was if he didn’t quit.

Plus he was running out of the wrong sets his whole time here.

Had he been running downhill out of the I formation for 3 years he probably would have smashed the record.

You don’t have to like him, but you should at least be able to recognize what he did.

Lol hurd off tackle 1st and second down and then throw on 3rd and short or run hurd off tackle on 3rd and long not very hard to key on hurd when the defense already knows what you are gonna run.

Just like I rooted against Jordan almost every single time but still acknowledge a 🐐 when I see one.

Aaaaand now we’ve come full circle, VN style.

He was also running out of an offensive scheme that hindered him and behind an offensive line that barely helped him. Now, I’m no fan of his quitting on us, but see his time here for what it was: he was a downhill back running out of a terrible delay system with little to no help. He was getting contact behind the line most of the time and he was overused. If he were on this team, I’d bet his results would be different. I’m also betting if he hadn’t quit like he did you would be diminishing him as a player like you are now.

Kamara had a hard time with it. Just saying. And I don't care. I hate the kid quit.

Alvin Kamara made more memorable runs vs Texas A&M than Hurd made in his career.

Hurd should’ve been the short yardage back to the starter Kamara. Coaches had it backwards. Thunder always comes after lightning.

Hurd was almost the all time leading rusher at The University of Tennessee after just 3 years. Please puke on your dress now. Now remind us of all your great accomplishments......

How many running backs at UT were the number one back who got most of the carries for three years in the modern era. Only one.

Hurd

Figure it out if you can math.

Hurd did have the advantage of starting all of his 33 games and not having to share many carries. Henry really only started one full season. The only 2 he was behind Jamal Lewis when Lewis was healthy. He also shared carries with Travis Stephens. Also back in that era they didn't count post season stats and only played 11 game seasons. Hurd didn't deserve to get the record, Henry was far superior to Hurd. Every record will get shattered in this era because of the extra games played and career stats including post season games now. Henry's stats didn't include Bowls and SEC Championship games.

I agree Hurd was playing in an offense that he wasn't a great fit for but his first 2 yrs in particular he had good Oline's. His first yr was loaded with NFL Olineman and his So yr he had some more SR's and guys who had played a lot. They weren't the best pass blockers but he played behind some good run blocking Oline's.

He was slow, went down easy a lot and missed the wrong hole all the time, yet he got a ton of carries.

Kamara ran behind that same line, yet his YPC was great. He was a great RB...Hurd was an overrated plugger that got in the way of a real RB superstar.
