Swanson is kinda clutch though and great in the field. Ender is becoming an anchor.

The lineup needs to be changed the way we had it when we were scoring some runs...
Albies leading off, Acuna, Freeman, Markakis, and put Ender 7th or in 9 hole.

Ender is the biggest problem. Having him bat leadoff and Acuna 7th is putting this lineup in terrible positions. Ender needs to move and right now. Also, we need bullpen arms.

Well, I don’t disagree there. Was only making the point that if we got Machado, I wouldn’t mind moving Swanson. But yes, Ender is dead weight at the top of the order. I say go back to Albies, Acuna, Freeman and Markakis as the top 4.

...Albies is unreal. One of only three guys his age or younger ever to have 200 total bases by the all-star game. Joins Mike Trout and Al Kaline.

162 games is a long season. They were due an offensive slump. Got to fight thru it. Need pen arms more than anything especially with viz’s injury issues.

You've never heard the story?

Sitting in my bonus room one day in 2003, I happened to be looking at domain names for some reason. I wasn't sure how they worked, exactly, but I thought the idea of having an @volnation email address would be cool. So I searched the domain, saw it was available, and registered it.

At some point, I thought it would be fun to add a home page. A message board came soon thereafter. LadyinOrange found us from a link on usenet (anyone old enough to remember that) and she became the first mod.

Never dreamed it would continue to grow into something I'd still be doing 15 years later.

:hi:

Thats a cool story. Well I thank you for creating this great message board. :good!:

I say go for a bat in addition to bullpen lets make a run at this thing.

What does the board look like at DT? Too many names floating around, and we seem to “want” all of them. Only so many spots.

Kristian Williams
Elijah Simmons
Tymon Mitchell
Jared Harrison-Hunte
Savion Williams
Jahkeem Green

Any idea on what order these guys are ranked?

I kinda like the the top 3 on that list. Mitchell above Simmons though maybe.

I liked the lineup when we put the pitcher at 8 and Ender at 9. We were consistently scoring some runs then. I have no idea why our minor league manager is keeping Ender in the leadoff spot. If it’s because he was whining about being so far down the lineup then bench his butt. Culberson is hitting better than he is when he gets an opportunity. By the way, Snitker needs to be axed like the Cards did Matheny. He’s not a major league manager IMO.

LOL. That’s it?

Yep. I think that’s what we need to contend. Way too many inconsistencies on our roster in all of those areas. Which of our starting pitchers goes to the mound, and you know we have a very good chance to win the game? None of them. Annibal has been very good the last few starts but he gets no run support. We need an ace, like Scherzer, Degrom, Greinke, etc., who you know they will have you in position to win every time on the mound. JMO

I guarantee you the front office won’t make any big moves. You know why? The Braves organization reminds me a lot of our Vols football program...a once proud organization, who would do anything to contend and win championships. Now, it’s all about the money. Like Invol has said about TN football, as long as fans continue to buy tickets, the front office doesn’t feel a sense of urgency to make any big moves to contend for championships. If they can grow into that kind of team through youth and the farm system then fine, but they won’t make the big moves to get you over the hump when it looks like they may have the team who can contend.

Here’s a question...why didn’t the Braves go ahead and get rid of Snitker, who is not a major league manager, if they really feel next year is the target to contend with all of this talented youth? Why not hire a great manager to come in and have a season to gel with the current team, and develop the talented youngsters for the next year?

I agree on a front line starter, although I think Folty is becoming elite.

We are ahead of schedule this year. I expected us to be mediocre and thought we’d be out of the race this year. So I’m giving them a bit of a pass. But if we don’t go all in this offseason and get some big time help with all the money we have, I’m going to be disappointed.

You are beginning to sound like us Reds fans as we went from the playoffs to the cellar. It has been a 4-5 years during the overhaul. The FO would not sign the pitchers that were getting it done long term and signed the one pitcher who you could not depend on to long term fat contract (Bailey). Idiotic stuff. But in the process the new FO took over and Joketty (Jocketty) retired. We finally hit bottom this season and fired Price with his pitching coach after an 8-27 start in April/May. Turns out we have a really good roster of everyday position players with improving pitching now that there is a good manager in Riggleman and pitching coach Darwin. The new FO picks up Scooter and Harvey off the waiver wires, who are doing great with fresh starts in Cincy. At this point the team has recovered 10 of those 19 games and there is legit hope for .500 season and better future. We've got Senzel ready to come up next season and India on the farm in development. Hunter Greene looks like a future ace SP in development. It has all changed for the better starting with the changes in the FO, manager/coaches, and farm emphasis. Once they figured it out it only took a couple of seasons.

The Braves need to stay invested in their farm and pick up the occasional player that fits with the right chemistry. Their ownership typically doesn't play the rental and FA market a lot. But if you don't have the right guys trading, managing and coaching/developing it will not work out. You have some really sound, good players. Keep adding pieces and get the right manager/staff and you will be back to the elite level again.

Sound familiar on a Vol website? Fulmer, Pruitt, better recruits, etc.

All instate guys. Newt gonna be pissed.

Haha I know. I'm with newt usually on the instate debate but those are the 3 best prospects regardless of state imo. I could see one of the juco guys but neither seem that much better to me. So I picked the top 3.

Random but...anyone else find it weird that Ziti and Chief disappeared about the same time amd now have been good for the same amount of time.

Ziti has been gone since a long discussion in the basketball forum a couple of weeks ago. Not sure if he did it on his own or what. But he was complaining about the forum and becoming insufferable. I had a discussion with him that got nuked. Not surprised we haven’t seen him, but overall, he is a pretty good dude.

We could ask sarge what happened since he's a mod now, oh wait....

I was tempted but the wife is due any time now. can't really risk getting trapped down there.

Congrats bud! I'm not sure how media days works, never been, but would be cool for the kids to meet coach and the players. Anybody ever been before?
