I honestly don't see how anybody can equate anything of last year's performance to what will happen this year other than some of the same players being on both rosters. There is nothing else the same in our program other than the facilities at UT - and some of that has even changed such as the weight room.

As anybody who has actually played the sport at any level knows - the addition or removal of a small handful of players each year can produce radically different results on the field. You don't need 22 new guys to get past a 4-8 season. They were 9-4 the two years before even with the incompetent brick layer. Now they have a highly competent coaching staff and S&C guy - not the UC Bearcats finest. They've added talented guys who can play the game, one being an alpha dog who got hurt early last season who hated Butch. JJ has made huge plays in the past and he will again. The removal of the let's just have fun coaching and playing is a major addition through subtraction. Trey Smith, Kennedy, etc. in the O-line with other guys a year stronger and more experienced. Talented RBs and WR's everywhere. Upper classmen loaded defensive front 7 with Warrior in the roaming Star position. Maybe you don't thing Chryst is the answer at QB - but he can dang sure push JG to perform better. It's time to start to showing some pride and belief in the program again.

As rekinhavoc posted - cut to the chase on WVU. Grier does not have a UF level of talent around him and he is not going against Butch this time. They beat nothing last season and have a lot of holes in their roster. We are underdogs simply because none of the people making spreads has a clue about what we will put on the field. I sincerely doubt we are going to put a bunch of lightweights on the field to be pushed around by WVU. Even Butch was able to beat Va Tech, and they are a better program than WVU.

Case in point, 2005 was awful. 2006 and 2007 were fun seasons. Cutcliffe made a huge difference.

Bravo Jeremy Pruitt. Set the standard on domestic violence early and do not delineate from it.

Well done.

Bingo. Set the standard early on, and you gain the respect of your players, and they will run through a brick wall for you. Well done, CJP!

On another note, does anyone think we pick up Walter Brady now?

Where did that DL from MTSU, that was previously at Mizzou, end up? If he's still available I wonder if he becomes a Vol over the next week with Thaxton gone and a spot open on the 85 man roster.

Anyone hear anything about one of Douchebag Meyer's staff members being in trouble? The Ainge show mentioned it but I was not able to hear the segment about it.

From earlier this month:

The amount of recruited talent, mostly by Butch Jones’ staff and some by Jeremy Pruitt’s first class is debatable. The fact that many of the players that were brought-in by Jones and his staff haven’t lived-up to their ability or ranking is not debatable.

That’s the way Barton Simmons views the UT roster.

“There’s no way you can look at Tennessee’s program and not acknowledge that there’s been a void in development, strength and conditioning.”

I asked Barton Simmons about the talent level on the 2018 UT roster. He sees the possibility of a quicker Vols bounce-back under first-year head coach Jeremy Pruitt than many others do.

“When you look at the guys that they got. You mentioned those numbers (referencing the roster star rating breakdown listed at the top of this post) and whether you used the composite or the best ranking out there. There’s guys there that are really talented. If this staff has the right strength and conditioning program and player development in place, I just think it may not take quite as long for Tennessee to get back as people may think. You would think Jeremy Pruitt’s got that blueprint because of where he’s been. This will be a test to that sort of Nick Saban model. There’s plenty of reason for optimism when you look at it that way.”

WR’s coach...Zach Smith. Same dusher who tweeted about JG being “afraid of competition”. Ex-wife has a protective order on him and they released details of an aggravated assault on her in 2009 when she was 10 weeks pregnant! He was on Urban’s staff at Florida.

I think it speaks volumes about how they felt about lawless giving the dismissal of Thaxton.

Shows their confidence in their own recruiting abilities too. They have enough faith that they'll be able to bring in enough talented players that they're not gonna hold onto someone just to hit an arbitrary number for depth

Answered your question in another thread. We’re at the 25 limit on counters if Peterson makes it in...so no room. I wouldn’t grouse. I started a thread about the Jalen Hurd article and it got moved to the NCAA forum. 3 hours later, another poster started the same exact thread...still on here. :)

Here's the story if anyone wants to read it. Dude sounds like a total douche. Since he has worked for Douche Urban as long as he did, it is not surprising.

He hasn't said yet. Bama 247 had a recent article about him and bamas potential interest after losing several LBs this summer. They have Coach Klug that coached Brady at Mizzu so that could be a factor.
