Speech and Pathology was supposed to have their own building years ago, but it was scrapped because other buildings were being built. I wouldn't doubt that Curry would've kicked them out with no where to go for the renovations if he could've.

Getting to a Final Four is incredibly difficult. Not only do you need to be a really good team, but a lot of times luck and the way the ball bounces needs to be in your favor.

I hope fans don’t see this as a Final 4 or failure type year and enjoy it for the ride that it will be.

Texas threw Barnes away because he didn't make the final four enough for them. I am happy with the NCAA tournaments, a coach to be proud of in every way, and good teams to watch.

Our fans are going to meltdown if that doesn’t happen. Expectations are high. Hope the team is ready for that kind of season mentally. Can’t wait to watch the ballervols this season.

We do have a lot of insane fans though.

Seems like some of our fans. We have a preseason top 6 team so baseline expectation automatically is that they should be top 4 by season end. Anyone who provides reasons that may not happen is just providing “excuses.”

i think the word "expectation" gets used a lot, and it's either not taken the right way, or not used the right way.

when you hear the worked "expectation" it usually means there's some form of accountability associated with not meeting the expectation.

i think it's probably better said that this team is definitely capable of getting to the final four, and it should be a reasonable goal.

i think it's fair to say this team should be in a position by season's end to make a run, and should/could be anywhere between a 1 and 3 seed in the tourney.

This was my op in the bb forum this morning and seems relevant to the talk here today

I can't help but think this season isn't going to be full of sunshine and good times. It's not that I think this team isn't going to be wildly successful it's more centered around what us the fans expect to happen.

Here are a number of things I think we see this year.


1) This season a new wave of fans will join the bandwagon and many of those will act as if the team is a failure with every loss.


2) Because of 1 this season won't be nearly as fun as last year for many of us


3) Grant Williams will be seen by many to have a down year. He won't win POTY


4) Admiral ends up winning POTY in the SEC


5) Every single player spends a portion of the year in Barnes doghouse.


6) Vols go into the final 2 weeks of the year fighting for the SEC regular season title.


7) Bone will receive daily criticism with every missed shot and TO.


8) Vols get 2-4 seed in NCAA tourney


9) anything less than a final 4 will make many fans feel this season is a failure. 25% we get there imo



I know this has somewhat of a negative feel for it but it's coming and I am determined not to let such things ruin what is going to be a great season.

Completely agree. You could see a dropoff in the second half last night. The first half was super intense. But, Tusculum outscored us for the first 10 or so minutes of the second half because the intensity level on D dipped some. Now, we had a 28 point lead, so that likely contributed to it.

South Stadium Hall was such a dump when I was in school. Taking summer courses underneath the stadium when the AC doesn't work well, that was not a fun experience.

This is a good team. Even the walk ons were playing well last night. Barnes is an exceptional coach. We are lucky to have him. (Edit: that said, I will not meltdown if we don't make the final four. I know we have the right coach and will be playing in the tournaments again)

I think this team has exceptional chemistry too. I just loved how the bench went crazy when the walkon had the "and one" on a 3-pointer. I thought were going to get a "T" because some of our guys left the bench in celebration.

My opinion of success hinges on BasketVols thumping WVU when they play them! Lol
I'm still erring **** about our season opener, and up here, they follow bb as close, if not closer than football.
