Then you'll have a chance to get good seats at a large discount.

That's an extremely pessimistic outlook. And it would cause rampant staff turnover. These coaches aren't going to stick around and bounce around the bottom of the conference for 5 years. They can recruit and develop players quicker than that-- and that's exactly what they plan to do.
I hope they can and do, and next year they prove me wrong, but I dont see us being competitive enough on the LOS on both sides next year to be much better than this year

5 wins this year. 7 next year. 2020 should be the turning point
I’m thinking something like this too. 6/7 next year with a *small* chance at 8. 2020 we play Ark in the west but played @OU. 8+ and competitive vs everyone - Bama(maybe Uga) is reasonable imo. He’ll have two full classes plus the few players he liked and recruited last year

Maybe the rumors of elite players getting ready to join are true. Maybe Pruitt expected this to make the players try harder. Maybe they are so beat down, they just said why bother.

He probably did expect the players to respond to his challenge. That's what competitive guys do and he's used to coaching competitive guys. But at this point, I think he's just telling it like it is-- we have players who aren't doing things the right way, it's hurting the players who are and he's going to replace the ones that need replacing. Recruits hear that message and see their spot.

I listened to Pruitt's post game show on the Vol Radio Network. His tone was distinctive, to say the least.

You can expect it against Charlotte. That’s all I’m saying. Don’t tell me that it was all coaching overcoming it against auburn and SC but then tell me the coaches can only do so much against Charlotte. You can’t have it both ways.

SC took away what worked vs. Auburn, so the east/west run game was plan B and it worked for a half. Jennings, Jordan, and our east/west runner, Chandler, were all banged up going into the Charlotte game and were resting. Fils-Amie had one good end around run, but any time he was in there after that, every person in the stands and at home knew where it was going. The only RB’s that leaves are our north/south runners. I’m guessing the coaches thought surely we can run north/south against Charlotte, but guess what, we couldn’t. There was basically nowhere to go after that.

The bottom line is that it is totally unfair to judge our offensive coaching when the OL is this much of a handicap.

A bowl isnt the determining factor this year for success to me anymore. It's just getting at or damn near a top 10 class. I think everyone can agree the OL and DL are by far the top priorities.
Agree with this. Obviously making a bowl would be nice, but recruiting is FAR more important to me right now. Sign 25, top 10, multiple instant impact players, 5+ on each side of the line and I’ll consider it successful.

Lol.

Of course it isn't.

His statement was made in frustration and wasn't literal. That's all

Fair enough. I believe his statement was literal. We have a coach that literally tells the truth. I see where youre coming from but time will tell I assure you.

I take his statement like this, if Pruitt had Charlotte's roster, he would have a very similar record. Thats what I think he meant. I think he said what he believes to be true.

His Mom, Uncle, Cousin, Dad and hometown fans!! All of us are here!!! You want a prize or the truth!
Maybe he should keep his mouth shut and do as he’s told, and maybe he will play. I’m sorry but I watch this team every Saturday and 80% of these guys are quitters. He’s lucky to be in the damn team as far as I’m concerned.

Pruitt: We beat a good football team that, I think, we're pretty evenly matched against.

No. That’s an excuse for not having your team ready to play and having an awful offensive gameplan.
I doubt Nathan Niehaus or Marcus Tatum or Riley Locklear, and a couple of others could start for Charlotte.

Of course, you went page after page defending Butch Jones, so I doubt you agree.

I made that post last week kind of tracking the turnaround time for OL, just based on how we went from valley to peak and back to valley from 2009 thru last year.

Assuming we sign Darnell and Wanya, it'll still likely be into their sophomore years that we see some real and consistent improvement. At this point, I'd be happy with 5 wins this year, and I do like our schedule for next year.

I think you're spot on.

You know what's bad about that. You could be right. I've looked at a lot of these lower schools most are bigger than we are Dline and oline.
