I may be off base, but it genuinely felt at the start like most everyone here was excited about any of Freeze, Lindsey, Enos, or Drinkwitz, but then everyone got googly-eyed over Freeze beating Bama twice (despite the fact that he is dirty as hell and we all know it) and decided it was Freeze or everything else was dumpster garbage. I'll admit that I will be very underwhelmed if it's, like, Will Friend, but I just don't think we need to sink all our hopes for Tennessee's rise or fall on this one guy.
Sure would sleep better if we heard from @Atlanta VOL

I'm excited about the class. One thing bother me about this search though.Whether it's Freeze, Enos, or Drinkwitz, we're all still set on giving Pruitt time, right?
We're set to amass some real cornerstone pieces this recruiting class on the defensive side of the ball and have more to look forward to in the 2020 class. With Pruitt's specialty being defense, (outside of surely a couple of games during each season) we won't HAVE to score 50 to win. That's the long-view.
Say we miss on Freeze for whatever reason and sign Drink (worst case) to a two-year contract. He's still gonna be somewhat limited behind our should-be-improving OL. But one year and two 5* commits doesn't make for a world-beating line. We shou
and I accidentally posted before I was ready

If it's true that Pruitt wanted Freeze and wasn't told he couldn't be hired and he moved it to the interview stage and was prepared to offer him the job and the rug was pulled out from under him, that's messed up. It tells me that the politics within the administration at UT is worse than I thought.
That's no fun. (Hugging the kids is but none of the rest)For the Love of all that is Holy, please calm down. Most of us hate the Haslams, but, Good Grief, you all are going to let one random post from somebody from TOS that apparently has no credibility, make **** up and cause everyone to lose their ****. I mean, come on, consider the source. Trolls gon troll. If we don't end up with Freeze, none of you are going to check out. Like me, you all have too much passion for our program and bleed orange. Just ride it out. Enjoy the bowl season. Hug your kids. Everything's going to be ok.
Yeah, I'll agree with that, if it's the case. I just think we should tread carefully with some of the speculation. Let's see what comes to light.I'm excited about the class. One thing bother me about this search though.

Thank you for your "updates" no matter how cryptic they are! You certainly create a frenzy around here which makes it all the more worthwhile to read Vol Nation! By the way, is there a freeze warning out tonight? To start with the immediate stuff. I haven’t heard anything at all today but that is also because I have been out of pocket today myself. I can tell you this with 100% confidence...when I posted last night a decision had been made by JP at some point Sat night/Sun morning who we wanted to hire and that the wheels would be set in motion to make that happen. I am not sure if anything has changed since then because again I haven’t been in contact today with folks. But again the sense of what I got was that things would get set in motion today or at the latest tuesday. So perhaps everyone should sit back and take a deep breath. I also didn’t allude to who coach had decided on because that isn’t my place to leak that kind of information before it is leaked to the folks who need to know...I can’t upset the apple cart in that capacity.
He’s better than our last two, but that’s not saying muchI'm not trying to move the goalposts or act like it's not a big deal if factors that shouldn't dictate our OC hiring do.
I just don't think Drinkqitz is the absolute worst case scenario, especially if we're going to be patient with this staff.
Watched a lot of NC State this year. Their line was pretty bad as well I thought, but he did a great job in getting Finley out of the pocket. I would have no problem seeing him here, and a bunch of my State buddies would be pissed to see him go.I like him, don't get me wrong; but, he's not as qualified as Enos. Over 10 yrs experience calling plays, and he has done it in this conference (and was very successful), Drink hasn't...not to mention, Enos has coached QBs for years.
But, I agree with you, Drink would be a good hire, even though many here will not think so.
Edit: after reading your post again, maybe you were not talking about being more qualified than Enos.
