Well, everyone else is throwing up their crazy theory, so here's mine.

Maybe there is no conspiracy. Maybe Pruitt has always been convinced of the kind of system he going to install but personnel and times etc; are giving him pause and he's strongly considering his options.

Maybe, just maybe, he feels this hire will have a huge impact on the rest of his career and the delay is the result.
It would explain why different sources are hearing different things. Because he's weighing different options. The negative being the candidate pool shrinking because of other opportunities.

We will never be worth a damn again. The worst betrayal of fans by a. admin in all of College athletics..

Somewhere Kingston is jumping up and down with glee as the UT College of Cardinals finishes turning us into Vanderbilt..oh wait...they've slaughtered us three years in a row, what's worse than Vandy?....Tennessee.

been out of the country, what’s the news?
Well, let's see. First the earth cooled. And then the dinosaurs came, but they got too big and fat, so they all died and they turned into oil. And then the Arabs came and they bought Mercedes Benzes. And Prince Charles started wearing all of Lady Di's clothes. I couldn't believe it.

He has had weeks to weigh his options. You don’t sit on your thumbs when you have a head start on hiring a coach.

Well, It may be that Freeze gets announced today, and all is well (if Freeze works out). However, I hope that Fulmer's advice to take his time does not backfire. You know, Fulmer used that strategy, but he had to choose from a pool of Defensive Coordinators. Luckily, there were 3 pretty good ones available. However, I am not sure that is always the best strategy.

If we miss out on Freeze, then all the best candidates may already be gone - after we had our pick of the bunch. Not a wise strategy, unless they have 2 or 3 more good candidates "in their back pocket," like Freddie Kitchens, that they are simply waiting on becoming available.

I think probably Jimmy Sexton is just playing it for all its worth, and UT is playing along. We will find out soon.

IDK about the way you put it but I believe that's why he's interviewing different people with different philosophies.
There's disadvantages to not making a quicker decision but rushing hires doesn't always work out well either, ya know?

If VN had its way with fast splash hires, we would have paid 15 million and have Jon Gruden right now. There's pros and cons to both styles. I just think our own impatience drives our thought process.

Hope everything will be okay and a good coordinator is announced today. I have my doubts, to be honest. Tennessee has been micromanaged and mismanaged for years. There is no wonder so many of us (all?) have BVS.

My family has been Tennessee fans since as long as I can remember. My grandfather watched Neyland teams. My dad walked across the scary railroad tracks with him to attend games. My family attended many of the greatest games the VOLS ever played.

That said, we now live in Georgia. Us older farts still root hard for them, even with all the many disappointments but all the youngest generation in my family (except for maybe one) are lost to the Bulldogs. Years and years of mediocrity, doesn't make for a whole lot of interest.

I can't even get excited about this hire, because with this team, tradition and facilities should get a superstar but instead we will probably hire a Sunseri.

Yeah, but what about my pocket presents?

This is sad. I see the same here in SC. Many of my TN grad fans here in SC have started rooting for and sporting Clemson gear. Raising their kids as Clemson fans. Say their kids want to follow a winner.

This is sad, but Many of my TN rad fans here in SC have started rooting for and sporting Clemson gear.

I won’t do that, but TN is losing many fans.
We are great and loyal fan base, but those fans are getting older. The younger generation doesn't remember when we were good. They see us as losers, just like the way we think of Vandy and Kentucky, even though they have better records, now. I just hope Pruitt can convince these talented recruits to come here, in spite of all the disappointments and dumb decisions.

I can agree with a lot of this.
Could even be that he had plan A and B.
Use Freeze and Enos - purely examples.
The Freeze interview or Sexton causes delay and maybe Enos likes his chances at Bama (legitimate or not).
It's not always as easy as telling them you're interested so they just agree to sign whatever.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are the best days for press conferences, as they are considered slower news days. Try to have your press conference on one of these days if at all possible. The best time to schedule your press conference is between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m, to ensure maximum coverage by the media.
