Do we need to upgrade at DL coach? I like Rocker, but DL recruiting hasn't exactly been stellar. Other than Crouch which was a Pruitt and Nieds get, LB recruiting hasn't been great either.

Box and one is a 2-2 zone with one guy playing man on a single player. We always moved the "one" to the point, basically turning the box-1 into a 1-2-2 zone and run our zone offense. I don't recall seeing much box against us this year, but teams have run zone against us successfully. 1-2-2 or 3-2 could give us trouble down the road. I think we would eat up a 1-3-1. We also struggle a bit against pressure, so don't be surprised to see some form of press against us in the future.

Yeah I think he's a very good coach but recruiting in that area is struggling.

Considering what we had to start the year and the fact that our best player never recovered from blood clots and we lost our center very early among other injuries and we actually made some fairly significant improvements over the previous year in spite of that. I think he did a pretty good job. I don't think Pittman would've done any better last season here. My point is mainly that even if Pittman is an upgrade (which is a little debatable) I don't think he's a big enough upgrade to offset the stability keeping friend with the OL will provide.

I agree with the ultimate point.


I just don’t think we can look at the 2018 OL and say it was a job well done yet. They just weren’t good at all. Pittman may not have done much better, but it’s also not like many coaches would have gotten worse production out of that unit. They basically hit rock bottom this year.

If the returners all take a step forward in 2019 maybe we can point back to 2018 and say Friend was developing them and they had to learn to walk before they could run. We don’t know if that’s the case yet. We just know they were bad.

No rocker is awesome and the players love him. DL is a position where you can find a lot of guys that aren’t highly rated Bc it’s a tough position to evaluate especially on the interior.

UNC tried hard to get rocker a few weeks ago when Mack was hired.

No rocker is awesome and the players love him. DL is a position where you can find a lot of guys that aren’t highly rated Bc it’s a tough position to evaluate especially on the interior.

UNC tried hard to get rocker a few weeks ago when Mack was hired.

Truth, but watching GA get Walker and Smith is tough. We need to get some dudes on the DL.

No one on here knows what Rocker does (or doesn't do) on a daily basis, including recruiting. If he's not pulling his weight, I have no doubt that Pruitt would replace him.
