....Was also why he turned the ball over as much as JG all year in ~2 games worth of playing timeChrist wasn't very good, but he was far more decisive then guarantano. That's why he was able to quickly drive for two scores against Bama. Unfortunately Babel was then able to make a quick adjustment and the rally was over
It isn't either/or. JG is bad because his decisions are too slow and he doesn't make good pre-snap reads. KC was bad because he sometimes made really bad head scratcher decisions (at Stanford too) and at times tried to do more than his arm can do.....Was also why he turned the ball over as much as JG all year in ~2 games worth of playing time
And if he could throw something other than a jump ball.It isn't either/or. JG is bad because his decisions are too slow and he doesn't make good pre-snap reads. If JG had the ability to recognize D's pre-snap then make timely, good decisions... he would be a really good QB.
Loved and missed Kirby???
Hurts struggles mightily with reading defenses and anticipating throws. Hurts is Dobbs with about half the passing abilities. So if you say a successful QB needs those traits, hurts ain't yer guy.The one comment on Shrout that sticks out came from Pruitt. He said that Shrout "anticipates throws" the best of any of them. That included JG. That included McBride. That included KC.
It also happens to be a trait that the most successful QB's have in common. It isn't the only thing a QB needs but is one that the very good QB's have. JG has not demonstrated that he can do it with any kind of consistency. That's part of the reason UT doesn't often throw some patterns with JG like slants and seams.
