Recruiting Forum Football Talk [RIP 9.3.2019]

I listened to a podcast by Pat Dooley (Gator sports) discussing with Robbie Andreu spring practice so far with the Gators. Pat is wondering if the confidence the Gators have looking forward to the 2019 season is misplaced given the state of their offensive line (something I’ve been harping on). He said in their most recent 11 on 11 work there were a ton of holding calls because the offensive line couldn’t block their defensive line at all and that’s after losing three of the best front seven on defense from last year to the NFL.

They also fretted about the possibility of losing their opener to Miami and what it would do to the confidence of the team. Apparently the Gators are aspiring to win the championship this year. If they get knocked back down to earth right out of the gate, does their season implode along with their morale?

Now granted we don’t have too much to brag about as far as offensive lines go, at least at this point, but we do have about four times as many returning offensive line starts and that excludes Trey Smith. My guess is their offensive line may make our front seven on defense look like All-SEC at every position. I’m okay with that, especially since I expect us to get the win. I don’t, however, expect our front seven to have the same prestige after the Georgia game. jmo.

Here is their roster breakdown by position and graduation/eligibility expiration years. The one area that Pruitt, imo, is absolutely dominating Mullen is in offensive line recruiting. If we can shore up the other side of the ball on the line he could be on his way to dominating the Gators on the field for the next 2-3 years. jmo.

(Notes: Banks, once projected as a starter this year, is out for medical issues and may not return. Mullen signed 7 offensive linemen in his 2019 class).

Not picking on you but folks do this every year. “Here are numbers that encourage me to believe something that never actually happens - a win in the swamp”.

If Florida loses to Miami they’ll get their confidence back after they curb stomp us in Gainesville.

And so it begins. The 3-year long baseball season.

That’s fine. We don’t have to agree on it. But usually when someone is pumping millions of dollars into anything, they have a little something to say about what’s going on with it.
Unless...they’re a booster? He’s been muted. Fulmer ain’t going through him. Davenport stopped following orders and lost her job in the process. But that was an act of the president he had bought...who’s also gone. Net result is he’s free to donate his money like the other big boosters but Fulmer’s running things.

If and IF.

Brought back lady Vols, hired Vitello, raised a lot of money for upgrades (which has been cancelled now). Don’t be so dense

Looking at it as a fan on the outside, the upgrades needed to stop until we got the football team back rolling again. All JMO. Spending darn near $400 mil for upgrades to a stadium was quite a huge chunk of change. Needs it, yes, but get the ball rolling with the team first.
