This is a snapshot of his career at Penn State. He doesn't seem to have a lot of experience and his first instinct seems to be to take off running. He's had injury issues which reportedly his family accused Franklin and Penn State of mishandling. Additionally, he expected to be named the starter for this year but Franklin wanted to wait until the first game to name a starter. I don't think he was going to start and it seems he didn't think he would be either. Franklin has a blue chip sophomore that is likely his starter this year. MSU fans are really down on their receiving corps so I guess Moorhead is looking for a Fitzgerald (RB masquerading as a QB) replacement. I could be wrong but I don't really see this helping them. jmo.

The coach of Memphis getting Memphis kids to stay at home and go to Memphis isn't really impressive.

I know, they're staying home to play for a living legend. But some are convinced he's cheating.

It'd be like once Tee starts landing a few 5* WRs at UTK and everyone starts accusing the Vols of cheating.

Being honest, if Tee pulls in the #1 class after one mediocre season, I might, I won't be mad but I just might😅

Great article on The Athletic right now about the "fuzzy math of the transfer portal". Not actual fuzzy logic/math for you nerds out there, but just on how there is much more supply than demand for those portaling. 450 players in total...JUST from P5 schools alone and yet 240 still have no landing spot. Only 20% landed at another P5 program.

Interesting stuff. I always argued people were making way more out of the portal than it really was - it was really just meant to be the face of the NCAA's change to a "notification of transfer" model over the old "permission to contact" model. A way to let the coaches easily see who could be contacted. And I think the model change was a big positive - players should be allowed to transfer and not have to get permission/be controlled by coaches. On the flipside, the publicity of the database has made it sound too optimistic, as if this "Facebook for transfers" would mean offers would come flying in. It has taken on a life of itself that has overshadowed the basic change in transfer models. I just hope these kids are going into the process with places they intend to contact and land at, not just praying someone will come calling.

Maybe a tweak in the system could calm things down. The publicity and openness of the portal has made things a little nutty, even for me. I would still like players to be the one with the control over deciding to transfer, but maybe they should at least be required to have a list of schools they would like to be in contact with. Making them put some thought into it. Otherwise they can have their scholarship pulled and end up with nowhere to go or end up finishing with a lesser degree at a lesser program. Best for both parties involved. And there are surely better options out there.

Tennessee has landed 7-foot-1 Uros Plavsic, a Arizona State transfer who was a redshirt last season. Serbian who attended Hamilton Heights in Chattanooga.

Not the greatest offer list, but dang we just need the height right now. Will he have to sit?

I meant Memphis kids stay in Memphis.......no matter who the coach is.

Not necessarily. Cal recruited nationwide. Pastner tried it, inked several Memphis kids that transferred away. Tubby didn't recruit anyone, let alone Memphis kids. Cincinnati and GT have actually done more with Memphis kids than any coach since Cal. Recently Memphis hasn't kept anyone home.

Okay, maybe I'm wrong...Bone is a very good PG prospect. Here's how he stacked up (all stats from final year in college)

View attachment 205889

TOs
2.0 Bone 2.9 A/T Ratio
2.7 Rose 1.74 Ratio
2.5 Westbrook 1.72 Ratio

Tbf, Rose was 1 and done and Westbrook was 2 and done.

Bone's T/A ratios
Freshman 2.07
Sophomore 2.69

Oops, still better than the comparisons
What a beast.

And really my comparison between Penny and Tee isn't even equal, because Peyton was always the golden boy in Knoxville. Tee was the Champ, but hell EB has more love in Knox than Tee. Penny is untouchable in Memphis.

Socioeconomics of that area is staggering. It's pitiful. Not sure I see the 'comedy' in how he talks. Beside, sadly, that guy was the adult in the entire scenario.
Idk maybe you have to know people that talk like that. About half of my family around Athens, Riceville, etc talk about like him, but not quite to that degree. They can be pretty entertaining at times with their sayings. When the guy said he said he was waterin' his chickens and how the couple were screaming and SQUALLIN'(?) I absolutely lost it.

Didn't know it was a bit older, but he got quite a bit of popularity from the whole thing - https://www.wideopencountry.com/farmers-hilarious-interview-bee-attack/
