I think a lot of that was because he had spent his freshman year as a guard and then had to learn the tackle position. I do agree he is likely not in as good a shape as he was his Freshman year.

Yeah...I think it is extremely unfair to expect that from him...I hope if he plays, he plays at an All-America level...but..

He was at tackle last year. I was totally behind that move too. I don’t think you ever put your best player inside on the line but it was obvious he felt more comfortable on the inside. He is a 1st round caliber guard.

If Simmons could just be quality depth at NG behind Gooden, that would be very helpful. Getting strong enough to play on the lines in the SEC is usually the steepest part of the development process for freshmen, the assignment responsibilities of that position can't be too hard to pick up.
