At what point do you demand more of the Staff that is getting paid tons of money rather then the HC who helped the team beat two ranked SEC teams last year after going 0 - 8 the year before. Maybe his coordinators and staff need to step the hell up and get some fight out of their position players.
Lmao...so Pruitt only gets credit for when we win but when we lose its solely on the coordinators and position coaches? Give me a break.

Guess whose job it is to not only demand-- but get-- more out of his staff? That would be the HC. He picked them; he's responsible for their performance and accountable for the outcome of every game. Fixing personnel problems is the HC's job.

Hence why Pruitt should have gotten into some tail after the Georgia State game which I am sure he did.

Just listened to McElroy’s take on the game. “Young, immature team that did not take their opponent seriously...”
Said this should be a wake up call for the Vols.
I think we’d all agree. Ultimately, thats Pruitts fault for not having these guys ready imo!

Was it Jeremy Pruitts fault that JG threw 2 picks and got sacked on his blindside for a fumble because he didn’t read a blitz and Ty Chandler fumbled the ball twice?

Who is to say he wasn’t delegating all game and managing his team and allowing his coordinators to make the calls?

I’m not defending him but to say he can’t cut it after one game is a bit ridiculous. If anything his staff failed him. Because we know dang well what his capacity is as a coordinator and he is one of the best.

Next game will tell what this staff is made of.
Yeah plus he said his kids sing rocky top every morning, so we know he’s got what it takes!

That’s my point. Pruitt needs to get up into some staff tail. There is no excuse for the position players not having any fire and not knowing what to do. You can’t blame everything on the HC especially when you are saying that the HC needs to delegate and let his staff coach. Well seemed to me like he let his coordinators do their jobs and it didn’t work out. They are some of the highest paid coordinators in college football they are just as responsible as Pruitt is for getting their players fired up to play.
This doesn’t make any sense.

He didn’t get the best out of Helton and Sherrer. We didn’t blame Pruitt, we blamed them and paid handsomely to replace them.

Now that their replacements don’t seem to have made a difference, it’s still not the HC’s fault?

What is the common denominator in the two situations?

Those other situations are different than with ours. Both Dooley and Butch wanted out a year earlier. With Dooley, he practically begged Hart to fire him and he wouldn't. Butch was trying to find anyone that would hire him. Neither wanted to be here and simply went through the motions their last year. Which in turn only hurt our program by allowing it to further sink into the abyss.

Is this really accurate? Given when Dooley had coming back on offense, I have a hard time thinking he wanted out. Ditto for Butch. I think it’s an example of two guys with big egos who felt massively under-appreciated and were bluffing to get raises, extensions, and resources.

Everyone in agreement that we start JG then take him out if/when we start stalling on offense Saturday? I think you give him a few drives and see how he reacts.
I'm split. BYU will be tough and I'm nervous about starting someone with no experience.
Otoh, I feel that he's already had multiple "let's see how he does" moments and yet, here we are. Part of me wants him pulled now.
The problem is, idk what's really behind him. We always assume it can't get worse but it always can.

So after one game you are going to say there is no difference? How about wait for the outcome of the second game to see if some coaches were put on notice because a HC can’t fix something he doesn’t know is messed up until he realizes it is messed up. Obviously something is messed up and hopefully it has been resolved otherwise we are going to lose a lot of games.

Disturbing--- re-watched a little. Our D is out of place, D-line and LB have no spacial awareness, and play sloppy undisciplined football.... just crashing and running at the QB like backyard, kill the man with the ball mentality... blows my mind how clueless we look... what have they been coaching this entire off-season? There are big, fast, athletic bodies out there wearing Orange, but they act like they don't know what they are supposed to be doing.

The O line did pretty well at times, but our QB just needs to flat sit on the bench. Didn't see really a single thing he did well/competent... no fire.

Actually the staff needs to make it a point to sit his ass as soon as he starts sputtering to make a point to the team that this type of play is not acceptable at UT anymore.
