This is the most worrying thing to me. You’d figure a coach with Pruitt’s resume would at least have his defense lining up correctly and playing smart football in year two. Derek Mason has fielded a more disciplined unit every year he’s been at Vandy with way less talent.Disturbing--- re-watched a little. Our D is out of place, D-line and LB have no spacial awareness, and play sloppy undisciplined football.... just crashing and running at the QB like backyard, kill the man with the ball mentality... blows my mind how clueless we look... what have they been coaching this entire off-season? There are big, fast, athletic bodies out there wearing Orange, but they act like they don't know what they are supposed to be doing.
I think he may need a boss in order to excel. I think maybe you almost need to be a bit of an entrepreneur to be successful as a head coach. Most people who are exceptionally good at their job fail when trying to go into business for themselves.
One of the biggest knocks I've heard on Jeremy is that he doesn't work well with people. By most accounts his players love him but the same isn't always said about his co-workers. His reluctance to pick starters for the game Saturday I think may be out of his desire to keep as many players happy as he can. Everyone brings an apple for Jeremy. jmo.
Having 30 practices then coming out and looking worse than last year tells me all I need to know.So after one game you are going to say there is no difference? How about wait for the outcome of the second game to see if some coaches were put on notice because a HC can’t fix something he doesn’t know is messed up until he realizes it is messed up. Obviously something is messed up and hopefully it has been resolved otherwise we are going to lose a lot of games.
Currie would have never been allowed to hire Pruitt in the first place. He's great with players, recruits and their families. That's the lifeblood of the rebuild, so UT has adapted. Fulmer has the personality to deal with donors, fans, fundraising and community outreach, so it has worked out. It would have been a disaster with Currie.
Shrout and Maurer can’t even get the protections correct. Imagine how awful this already terrible offensive line will be without that help.
Looking for a better gig and trying to escape are two different scenarios.Idk what was goes through any coach or AD's minds or whatever but even Leach admitted to trying for a different gig.
But the ending is the same. Other programs haven't fired their coaches until they start losing more games and that's how it's ended here also. Same results regardless how we get there.
Is this really accurate? Given when Dooley had coming back on offense, I have a hard time thinking he wanted out. Ditto for Butch. I think it’s an example of two guys with big egos who felt massively under-appreciated and were bluffing to get raises, extensions, and resources.
I agree with your statement except for one thing, a little mound that is below sea level in New Orleans cannot be called a peak.I think Shrout and Maurer both have fire. I would be excited to see either one of them play over JG. I’m done with JG there is no defending him. He has no more ceiling and has peaked.
Haha.Looking for a better gig and trying to escape are two different scenarios.
I think this is correct.
However, doesn’t do much for next season. This class is what, top 20 at best? And we’ll lose a few guys.
At that point he’s not replenishing the roster like we thought he would.
