I told my brother it feels so eerily like 2012 but I think it’s obvious we’ve got much better coaches at this point than we had then. And that UF team did end up going 11-2, which I have a hard time seeing this one doing. But man did that game rip my heart out. I really thought we were going to win at halftime.
Even 2012 we were a mere FG favorite (57%/43% game)...basically a coinflip game (and with a lifetime proven loser at HC no less).

As an 11 pt favorite, it's an 80%/20% game

Which is to say, in every way...this is "a whole different ballgame"

We're playing with house money Saturday

- We were picked to go 7-5 or 8-4
- We weren't in the top 25
- This was supposed to be a 5-year rebuild
- Heupel was the uninspiring "safe" hire
- Hooker was a washed up ACC QB brought here by Pruitt

Look at us now

Outperforming every conceivable expectation with College GameDay and one of our most hated rivals limping into town

I've decided after the last 15 years I'm just going relish this

These types of years don't come around often

If we lose and the wheels fall off the bus and everyone gets fired this offseason- so what?? We've seen that show many times and we know how to get through it - we all survive

...But what if we smash the Gators all up and down Neyland stadium, run the Tigers out of their stadium, and set up a showdown with the undefeated Crimson Tide in three weeks... We'll think of this weekend as having been quaint...

Now that's worth thinking about!!!

GO VOLS!!!

Haha.

I'll say this. I think they're an all around really solid team...

But my GOD is their run game downright pathetic.

We will beat them because Levis will be 1 dimensional.

I have few worries about that game, but I'll also admit they look a bit better than expected across the board. But I really don't think Levis can beat us off his arm alone. He may be slinging it well, but too many INTs.
And here I left out the most important piece, the rushing stat:

UK is 126th in YPC, with some very familiar names around them:

If we make it to the Bama game undefeated, it'll be in the top 2-3 best starts to a season I've ever seen.
It would be unbelievable, considering everything they've overcame from just 14 months ago.

Ugh. One of my best friends is a gator fan (I know, I know) and I went to a party the night after that game and as I walked in the party music changed to the UF fight song and he recruited a couple other people to do the gator chomp at me. My blood was boiling. Walked straight to the alcohol and took a half dozen shots of whiskey. That one hurt.

For the sake of friendship though I got his ass back in 2016, but I NEED more of these chances 😂

It would be. But I'd also be insanely excited if we come in 4-1 as well. Would still be a top-15 matchup...sellout crowd.

Just to say, this is going to be a really exciting season, even if it isn't perfect. The Bama-Texas game gave every other Bama opponent tons of hope...

I’m with Bass on this. We’re undoubtedly a better team but 30 years of Florida games tells me this game is never normal. Since Tebow left, the difference between UT and UF is truly not that great but it’s gone pretty poorly for us. Flip side of the UK game.

Think it’s also fair to say we won’t have arrived even if we beat Florida because Florida isn’t that good. We play a complete competitive game against UGA or Bama, then we’ve arrived.

I have not seen one post that said we have arrived or if we beat UF we have arrived.
