I told my brother it feels so eerily like 2012 but I think it’s obvious we’ve got much better coaches at this point than we had then. And that UF team did end up going 11-2, which I have a hard time seeing this one doing. But man did that game rip my heart out. I really thought we were going to win at halftime.

I remember getting a sinking feeling about the game when Dooley said on 3HL that "none of the hype matters if we go out there and lay an egg."

It seemed crazy that he would even plant that seed of a possibility. I'm sure he hyped up the team by quoting Walt Whitman or something before the game.

I think it was when we sniffed out a fake punt from UF and stopped them well short that I thought “we’re really going to do it.” What a collapse.

As big as that play was, the 80-yard Trey Burton run was just as deflating. I think that was actually the exact play that sealed Dooley's fate because it put on tape exactly how out of position and slow our defense was. The very next game we gave up 26 points to 1-11 Akron.

My daughter was 14 at the time and cried for at least an hour and a half after that game. She finally stopped to help me stop crying...............

Today I learned...

Heupel and Mark Stoops worked together for one year at Arizona under Mike Stoops, 2005.

Irrelevant to this week, but with Heupel being the scapegoat for Bob at OU, I can see added motivation for Heupel to always one-up a Stoops. Food for thought later in the year.

You could see it at the end of the game last year. Beating any Stoops means a lot to Heupel.

Florida Gators Football: UF vs Tennessee Prediction

“One thing I expected to see more of from this offense was utilizing the running backs in the passing game. ""

Yep, we should be using Nay this way, he'd contribute much more in that role. I mean, try him on a wheel route, he excels at that. As everyone knows, the other two RBs are excellent runners, so good that they run circles around Nay

Interesting tidbits from Denny Thompson

For those that don't know, denny Thompson runs a private qb academy. He is ARs qb development coach, as well as hundreds of hs and collegiate qbs. I listened to the podcast, and have a few cliffnotes.

1. He says there is nothing wrong with ARs physical ability or mechanics. It is completely mental. He says he has a sore ankle, but nothing to affect his throwing or ability to run. He said AR is a major introvert, and without saying it directly, it sounded like He eluded to the pressure and the crowd causing some anxiety.
