And our backup qbs have looked pretty good too. Granted it’s been against bad teams but still Milton has shown improvement and the third string dropped in a couple nice ones too.I can't imagine how happy Heupel is over how this weekend played out. Eyes of the CFB world on UT and we delivered with a boatload of blue-chip recruits in attendance.
The prayer warriors are letting me down!Um, @bignewt you going to join us in this league or nah? Looks like you're riding the struggle bus, brah.

OL definitely an upgrade with mostly the same cast. Expect that to improve even more during the season as Mincey and Wright settle. Except for the errant snap over Hooker’s head that didn’t count because the Gators were offside, the IOL were oaks. Hooker had some real clean pockets and dealt.A couple of other thoughts are number one, we don't have the roster to be where we are right now. That speaks to coaching all techniques, XOs, and team culture. I feel like in year two you really see what you have for better or worse and right now we are overperforming.
Secondly, oline was a concern coming into the year and man are they are playing well. Last night we had a handful of real physical runs and Hendon has stayed pretty clean against good defenses.
Third, huepel is showing he has a good feel for managing games and isn't just an offense first defense never guy. Once we get the roster going I can see us being very spurrier-esque.
All the others bums we rolled in here had some glaringly obvious issues by this point. What a change.
It does not really sound like you are enjoying it all that much.....Defense is slaw...I hoped and really thought it had gotten better...but nope.
We just got absolutely shredded by an absolutely garbage offense that has looked like the Keystone Cops all year...and everyone caught up in the euphoria of this win right now doesn't understand what that means for the rest of the season.
Enjoy it while it lasts..I know I am...but...![]()
I’ve backed JB and still do, but won’t protest when the Elijah Herring era begins.I believe some is to be blamed on Banks and some playing the older players who are probably maxed out. We saw some freshmen flashing last week and this week. May be time to let them take over. Their talent is evident.
Quite possible it's Martinez. I've never been his biggest fan, nor have I ever been his biggest critic. Maybe it's him; or, we just have a bunch of 3 star guys that none of the big timers would ever even glance at, much less offer. I mean, that 4th and 2, 40 yard bomb they completed on Hadden had nothing to do with Martinez...as a DB, that cannot happen. I think a big part of the problem, regardless of coaching or talent, is that they all are just not fast enough...and, that's a massive problem from the jump. Not gonna lie, I wonder if it's Willie Martinez. I remember not being high on him when he was here the first time, and with the way our secondary has played, I remember why. It could be the players, or it could be Banks' scheme, but I'm starting to believe it's the coaching they're getting from WM. He's good at finding talent but has some struggles developing it.
Okay, go ahead and roast me for my opinion.
We’ve got better safeties basically sitting.Quite possible it's Martinez. I've never been his biggest fan, nor have I ever been his biggest critic. Maybe it's him; or, we just have a bunch of 3 star guys that none of the big timers would ever even glance at, much less offer. The safeties are Banks' position; and, as far as personnel there, I have NEVER been a fan of Flowers or McCollough...both are slow as Christmas, and not very athletic. Flowers got blown up several times yesterday (he is the WORST tackler on the team) and McCollough was nowhere to be found. On the slant for the TD to cut it to 5 (if im not mistaken), McDonald never even moved.
Maybe it's glaring because we have studs everywhere else that are balling, and the back end sticks out like a sore thumb. Idk. But, you could be right...whenever Willie was here last time, there were moments I pulled my hair out.
