There is that, but I'm talking about how he talks fondly about working in that carpet warehouse or whatever and hearing over the radio that Alabama hired Saban. And going to the 2009 Rose Bowl Bama/Texas game.I think that can be explained by him going to the playoffs every year since they started. By default bama would be in those memories. He used to constantly talk about how blown away he was with the first UGA/Bama title game and how he managed to get the play-sheet for Bama after the game ended before he went mainstream.
To be fair, I was 11 years old when Saban was hired and I even remember the day it happened. My grandfather (USCe fan) wouldn’t shut up about it. My dad (Based UT fan) wouldn’t either. It was a hire heard round the world, at least from my personal experiencd. There is that, but I'm talking about how he talks fondly about working in that carpet warehouse or whatever and hearing over the radio that Alabama hired Saban. I don't care who his team is, he's one of the best in the biz and I hope he stays at it for a few more decades. To be fair, I was 11 years old when Saban was hired and I even remember the day it happened. Break them in half and pour the gravy over them, eggs, hashbrowns and sausage on the side.
Little known way of eating gravy is with cantaloupe. My mom used to do it and I always thought it was gross. I tried it and it's good.
Another thing for biscuits is top with Bob white syrup but mix butter with the syrup. Mmmmm.
He and Danny kannell go at it pretty good too lol. It’s a good way to deflect criticism. He doesn’t cross me as a guy to shy away from it though. His betting picks have been pretty bad this year, and he got pretty heated at guys blaming him for losing money. “What you do with your money isn’t on me. You’re a grown man trying to blame someone else for your decisions. No one made you make that bet.” Something to that effect.
Prayers sentVol Nation,
I don't normally ask, but I would appreciate any prayers, thoughts, and positive wishes. My wife just left for a 6 month deployment. We have a 4 year old and an 18 month old that are going to miss their mom and I'm going to miss my wife. I'm in the military too so this isn't going to be the easiest 6 months for all of us. I'm just pretty down right now and I'm grateful for any positivity thrown our way.
I remember reading somewhere that his grandma was a UT fan. Idk if that is true or not, however. To be fair, I was 11 years old when Saban was hired and I even remember the day it happened. I am officially buying Tennessee. I was absolutely blown away by Hendon Hooker. Without his security blanket Tillman he was still making these confident 1v1 throws. Throws into tight windows. His TD/INT ratio is unreal. I don't remember him being this great runner.
This is a QB friendly offense, a lot of QBs could do well in this offense. Hendon Hooker and his ability take it to the next level for two reasons. One: Accuracy, he does not miss a ton of throws. Heupel hit on something in his postgame: Hooker is making really really good decisions constantly. Every time he saw open field he just took it to move the chains. He didn't wait around to look for a difficult throw. Ultimately, he is a guy that is just feeling himself right now. The pocket presence. He's giving Tennessee what they need. If Tennessee is gonna do special things this year, it's gonna be because of Hooker. They obviously need Tillman back.
maybe he is what we thought Anthony Richardson was a couple of weeks ago. It's not that he makes these great throws or these great plays, it looks like an offense in firm command. We talk so much about these other offenses, and I'm a huge Bryce Young fan, but he doesn't always look like he's just in command. It's so rare to see a quarterback that's so dialed in, has control of it, and then can just dictate defense. Mac Jones did it, Burrow did it, but it's not that common. I am all in.
I am guilty of kind of poo-pooing Tennessee, but man. I don't know if they'll make the playoff, but I think they're better than Kentucky now, I'm ready to say that. I think they really are a top 10 team, I think they're really good.
I've felt that way from the start of the season. I think Kentucky is really good, I think Tennessee is better. I've thought from the start of the season that Tennessee is one of the 15 best teams in the country. It was just a matter of time until they could prove it. I was surprised they didn't start the season ranked. With how good they played last year, especially because they had Hooker rolling, and with all the guys they brought back. 17 starters back. You had Hooker, Tillman, Small. I was surprised that more people were not on Tennessee at the start of the season. Maybe it's the Tennessee of it.
for me - I knew all the advanced analytics and returning production. There was this part of me that just felt like it was putting up really efficient numbers at the right moments. I thought maybe it was a numbers skewer but when they played good teams it wouldn't work, but I was just wrong. Maybe some of it is the Tennessee of it, the Butch Jones of it. Their production is good but are they a *football* team, or are they just empty calories. Well they are not. I was not high on Josh Heupel. I was wrong.
Schematically, him and Alex golesh, this is the Baylor system that they are running. It is a run first system that spreads you out, wants to be very aggressive. And I think they have this mindset that we're going to attack, attack, attack. I think guys like playing in that system. But this is the Baylor system that allowed Art Briles to win the Big 12 twice.
culturally, you come out of the Jeremy Pruitt era was so different. Talking to recruits, Pruitt was honest and transactional. Hey I'm going to use you to win games, you can use me to get to the NFL. But then you have the element of not treating people great. He would call it demanding a lot, but most people would call it just being a jerk.
Coming away from that, Heupel couldn't be more opposite. He's a very normal person. He had to reboot his career, I think that situation helped. He says hey to everyone in the hallway and treats everyone nice. There's some humility and appreciation there after what he went through. He's dealt with failure. Humility allows you to listen to other people and learn what is working. Guys are having way more fun in this program now.
depends on recruiting. Have to keep it up. Top 10 level every year to compliment elite QB
I think a undefeated Bama and Tenn, no way they pass that up. I have been wrong before. They would show up in hopes Bama destroying us. But not so fastI really don't think GameDay will be back. Originally I did but then I looked at the schedule. Michigan and Penn State play that week and I suspect they would go there. But anything can happen.
I think and Orange out would be pretty cool!
