PSA:

Irregardless is not a word, regardless of what you heard at your dinner table growing up. It's "regard" being crushed between a double negative. You're actually saying, "without no regard".

Stop it!
I'm pretty sure people conflated regardless and irrespective to spawn that abomination of a word.

Related to that, next time someone tries to use the argument of a something being in the dictionary as evidence for it's being a word, remember that irregardless is in the dictionary. Dictionaries are not the authority on whether or not something is a word. It's just a measure of what society uses as words.

I think that’s kind of the point why we haven’t seen a lot of what we saw against Pitt since. If you play aggressive like at Pitt it can do what we saw with lots of pressure, strip sack, interception due to pressure, etc… but it can also expose you to where if you don’t get home on the pressure or they have a great play call, it can really hurt you. The real benefit is somewhere in the middle with a combination of aggressive calls at times mixed with keeping plays in front of you and not allowing explosive plays. Explosive plays are how teams can keep up with us.

Bend don’t break defense with a good red zone defense mixed with great execution on offense is a good recipe for success with this team.
I think it has more to do with being down to two corners that they feel confident in playing and don’t feel confident in leaving them on an island… I hope the staff feels that Dee is playable…. We need more bodies back there.

It’s a third of the way through the season. We are what we are. A bad to meh secondary. A really good DL.

LSU = A better Florida. Should be the same result but every game has its own flavor.
I’m not sure they’re a better Florida. I don’t think Daniels is capable of putting up a performance like AR did

Our guys have to get home. Tennessee is tied for 5th in QB pressure %. Get home and you change the look of the defense.
We’ve played 2 QBs that are pretty good of getting out of pressure. Richardson and the douchenozzle from Ball State. LSU Qb obviously good at getting out of pressure as well, but he does have a hurt knee. I think our get home numbers improve over the rest of the season.

I'll just say this prior to the season and even before our game AR was getting as much praise as Levis. Saw him in quite a few top 5 SEC QB list.

Daniels I have yet to see get that sort of hype. And even if it's not always justified/warranted (Rattler) it's usually a pretty good indicator on skillset for a QB. I think LSU has played a softer schedule than Florida so I wouldn't say they are a better team, just a similar team with a better record.

This whole discussion at least beats these dang morans using dominate when they mean dominant. About to see their azzes at the nearest waffle house if they keep trolling my eyes 🤧
.

If you would of thought a little harder, you could of come with a better example of irritating language.

We should all ignore Glitch so we don’t see his game thread. That should restore order, and then Nick can post his.

You can try, but in your hearts you will always know that my game thread is somewhere out there in the universe.... taunting you. Laughing at you. Forever!!!!!

Josh Heupel was 7-5 his first year as OU's QB in 1999, after 12 years of being terrible.

The following year they started 4-0 before their first ranked match in a brutal stretch of 4 games vs #11 Texas. They won that game 63-14.

The following game they faced #2 Kansas State and won 41-31.

The very next game, they faced #1 Nebraska, a team they lost to by a score of 69-7 the last time they played. They won this time, 31-14 to become 7-0 on the year.

Two weeks later, they played and defeated #23 Texas A&M 35-31.

This sounds a whole lot like what's happening at UT right now. Finished last year 7-5 in the regular season. Start this year 4-0 and then face a brutal 4 game stretch of top 25 games, including battles with the #1, #2, #25 & #13 teams.

Could history repeat itself?

Heupel had meetings with his teammates after the 1st season, putting out his plan on how they are going to win each game and finish as National Champions. After the past 13 years as a mediocre or bad team, no one ever expected they would win a national title, but Heupel believed it and prepared for it, the same as he's doing here.

Heupel is also in his 2nd year as HC, the same as Stoops @ OU when they won the title back then.

*this is pretty much a synopsis of an article in "The Athletic". It's not word for word, just my interpretation of the article.

I think the philosophy is predicated on the idea that teams are not always gonna go for it on 4th down. They believe we'll give up 1st downs, but get a few stops on 3rd throughout the game, force multiple turnovers and bad decisions. Then, in the redzone, become an stone wall on the front and backends.
People are not even realizing that the defense forced 6 fourth downs....normally that is a punt or FG attempt and ergo...much less yardage. Napier went full retarded football and he got extremely lucky...period, and it skewed the stats.

I've watched it several times now, and yes there were busts, but there were also a lot of great plays...imo the defense did not play near as badly as the stats indicate.

I kinda wonder if LSU will be as agressive on 4th down as Florida was. If UF punts the ball we roll those dudes.

I would expect our defensive gameplan will be very similar. Stop the run. Make Daniels prove he can beat us through the air. Hope he throws a couple to us and we can swing the game and pour it on.

I'm feeling good about it. LSU has their work cut out for them.
Also some luck/chance involved. All of those Florida 4th downs were like 3 yards or less. We just need some more incompletions and those 4th downs are 4+ yards and much less convertible.

The battle against double negatives has been lost. It is so pervasive now that I have given up letting it bother me.
Speaking properly is no longer admired. In fact, many consider it being “elitist“ or “snooty”.
Well, i appreciate it, for what it’s worth!
