That Vandy loss is the maddest that I have ever been after a Tennessee loss. I've died inside with other games, I've been frustrated by other games. I have never been so inexplicably overcome with "wtf" after a game as I was with that Vandy game. Unreal.
Could not agree more. Not even Georgia state. That one was shock. Vandy in 16 with the potential to STILL go to the sugar bowl even after losing to South Carolina for no reason and laying that egg had me livid

Being able to pick up 3rd and 1/ 4th and 1 is a good thing, so yes, we do like them. Whitehead was supposed to be that for us this year before he went down. Now Small is our biggest back at 213. We'll probably run outside the tackles behind an H back to pick those yards.
But what is that back? It isn't the big back (unless he has great quickness/burst, in which case he's a freak of nature type)

Many see it as a slower bigger back.

Research says, especially with a spread offense, it is a quicker burst, shorter guy.

We were better on converting 3rd and short rushing plays than Bama or UGA last year. And better than any year under Pruitt.

Heupel could've coached Seymour High School to be better than Pruitt teams.

Sure. But it's his old school schemes that contributed. He was stuck in the past and ignoring what the data tells us. Heupel is following the outputs from what is really happening.

This was actually studied even in the NFL and shown to be a correlator of greater success.

Not sure why it's even still a myth that circulates. Take it a step further and you're saying bring back the fullbacks or "3 yards and a cloud of dust".

Agree. It was nice hearing Golesh today say, “We feel like we hit on both freshman RB’s”. He raved about Sampson’s vision and speed. Said he didn’t realize how great his vision was until he got to Knoxville. Also said he’s as fast as any SEC RB out there. Damn, I’m excited to see this team play.
Cautious optimism is my position heading into the season. I refuse to be disappointed.

I know right where his cabin is. It is in the Valles Caldera National Preserve in New Mexico which is a high valley that is a volcano that blew it's top. Look it up on Google Earth, I will post a pic that has what to type in to find its location..

I can only imagine living in that cabin and walking out every morning to that view. Probably wouldn't be very productive. Awesome awesome view.

I was there for my birthday. Because of that, I have sworn off in-person attendance. I am the jinx. My previous game before that was Auburn '09. Before that ND in '04 , UGA in '03. Glad I stayed in my dorm room for Florida in '04. Edit: Forgot to mention, I was at Marshall '04, we where we barely survived that one.

Makes logical sense when you consider who is voting and controlling the rules.

The majority of teams don't run super uptempo, at least not like us. So it's in their best interest to be allowed to protect themselves from offenses like ours. So when there is input and the committees and boards go to vote, sat by university presidents, ADs, commissioners, etc...which are they going to pick?
Correct, they’re protecting themselves. No big school runs tempo nearly the pace that we run it so why make the changes?

Sometimes you just can't win for losing... So Friday they did a mobile chest x-ray on OH because the nurse didn't like what she didn't hear in his lungs and she called me later that evening to tell me OH has pneumonia which for him is super serious and scary. His confusion has also been up and down because his sodium and potassium levels are both down.

I've been doing my best to take care of everything but my parents are out of town this week and so I have no help and I'm worried about the declines his nurse is warning me about (things like I don't want you blindsided weigh heavy). Anyways someone called and I run to the door to see if it's a delivery for one of his many meds. It's not so I run back up to try and get the confused OH back to a safe area. Too late. He loses his balance and grabs the tv in our bedroom and pinches the screen hard.

So now I've got a very sick OH and need to buy a new tv when my parents return. I've got I think 3 days to get one once they get back. Normally it wouldn't matter but football! It's far less important than OH's health but it's a mental respite for me to have it.

Could def. use your thoughts and prayers right now.
The stress of being the caregiver for someone is one of the most difficult things I’ve known. Can’t imagine when it is your spouse. Many prayers for you one OH.
