The team that I hate almost as much as any SEC team so I don’t wanna give the satisfaction of speaking their name..lol.
They are just as good as us on offense, but they have a top 5 defense also. They are what we will be after we get an average top 5 class for 7 years.
I don't see anybody beating that team this year....but I hope somebody does.
Edit: WELP, I think you were talking about OSU not UGA after I re-read your post and realized you said they weren’t an SEC team… I’ll see myself out but I’m leaving the stats in case anyone is interested
Im bored so I did some perusing on comparing Bama and UGA stats.
I’m not saying it won’t be a tough game but Bama was up there in every category before we played them too. Those two teams aren’t far apart at all. UGA has played more of a favorable schedule and weren’t without their best player for 2 games like Bama was. So the stats are a bit skewed and even then, they are close. Another thing of note… UGA defense doesn’t get sacks and TFL anywhere close to Bama. UGA TFL is tied for 115th in the country and Sacks are tied for 124th in sacks. That is VERY uncharacteristic for that defense this year. They are rated highly in pass defense and pass offense but so was Bama. Check the comparison:
Passing Yards Allowed -
UGA 8th - Average of their P5 opponents passing offense - 83rd (3 out of 6 teams in bottom 30 in CFB)
Bama - 32nd - Average of their P5 opponents passing offense - 72nd (2 out of 6 teams in bottom 30 in CFB)
Only a 30 YPG allowed difference between the two.
UGA 163 YPG, Bama 197 YPG. And that’s AFTER Bama played us.
Rushing Defense -
UGA 5th - Average of their P5 opponents rushing offense - 48th
Bama 14th - Average of their P5 opponents rushing offense - 49th
Only a 15 YPG allowed difference between the two. UGA 83 YPG, Bama 98 YPG. And that’s AFTER Bama played us.
So all that to say, the defenses are not that far apart at all and we just hung 52 on Bama. The only category on offense that UGA and Bama are not within a few spots rankings wise is Passing offense.. but that’s with BY hurt for basically 2 games and the back up was not a throwing QB. So those are probably closer in reality than the 20 something spots that separated them. So Bama is just as good as UGA on offense and just as good as UGA on defense, and that’s with ESPN FPI ranking UGA 76th in Strength of Schedule and Bama 6th.
Now, I am not saying UGA is easy or we are guaranteed a win or anything close to this.. just simply saying that we CAN beat UGA and it is not even close to a definite loss. They don’t look invincible, but they do look good still. JMO.
