Enjoyed everyone’s predictions for the game, “what-to-watch-for’s” and just plain cat dumping all week. Checked the stats, don’t see any way this is a close one, so instead of throwing a bunch more stats out there, here’s a summary:
  • They D is good against trash, and we ain’t trash. We hit ‘em for fiddy.
  • They RB is good, but we Run D better. We stop ‘em for under a hundy
  • They QB ugly as hell, that’s 2 personal fouls and 3 points off their board
  • They OL is trash, we drop that ugly ass 5 times as he runs for his life all night
Vols take a stroll out on a brisk fall night and make it win number 35 over the past 38 years.

You misunderstand the post. A handful of difference makers enter the portal each year. Not an infinite number. And of those handful, you have multiple schools chasing them. Getting one or two a year is nice, but people are talking about us landing several at various positions. Needs are better addressed through recruiting than they are the portal. The portal is more of a crap shoot.
Yes, but the way it works now is the vast majority of the class is already determined before the season begins. The uncommitted ones are probably down to two to three teams. It’s usually too late to grab someone you’ve not already built that relationship with unless you’re the one finding a diamond in the rough. So you’re basically left with trying to get the ones you’ve already made the cut for then looking to the portal to get the ones you hope can help with immediate needs. We can’t judge (😉😉) our ability in the portal last year because we had our hands tied. And this year we should be way more attractive to the difference makers in the portal. The good news is we don’t have to have an excessive talent advantage anymore in order to win.

Jason Isbell, Jamestown Revival, The Lone Bellow, Watchhouse (formerly Mandolin Orange) all also put on great shows live. I'm sure Chris Stapleton live is amazing as well, but haven't seen him in person.

Lately I've been listening to Larry Fleet and The White Buffalo a lot in the rotation. If you're looking for a strong female artist I'd suggest Morgan Wade especially her acoustic stuff.
Why did Mandolin Orange change their name? They've got a few songs I like a lot (Big Men in the Sky and Hard Travelin').

So why is everyone acting like we don’t have a good one? Because we don’t have a crazy billionaire?

We have a great NIL program. I don't think it's the lack of a billionaire with a blank checkbook. I think fans that follow this kind of stuff are 1) disappointed that we don't have more participation than Florida has in theirs, 2) somewhat surprised that we aren't in the top 1-2 strictly because of fan involvement/support.

No one can question that our fanbase is unrivaled in dedication and support going back however many years. Maybe except for Nebraska. We finally have a way to quantify (monetize) that support and the NIL membership didn't take off like it could have. It will reach its potential in time, I believe.

Our head coach and staff are incredible. They are chefs making gourmet meals out of ingredients that they found in someone else's kitchen. Imagine if they had premium ingredients of their choosing.

I'm in the camp that says the kids that are in it only for the money, and we know what programs and players (for the most part) currently fit that category, aren't the kids we want and don't fit the culture this staff is building.

aTm signed the best class... Ever.

How's that working out? Meanwhile, Heupel is taking Pruitt leftovers and some transfers to the cusp of the playoffs. In year 2.

I'm willing to see how it plays out.😉
I am willing to see how it plays out also, but you have to admit that it is more than a little frustrating. I sit and watch this team and drool thinking about what he could do with a high 4*-5* loaded two deep, Bama, OSU and UGA type roster.

The difference would be mostly on defense and having depth along the OL.

Make no mistake, Heupel is doing this the hard way right now...We have to close the talent gap significantly with the big 5 if we want to do this year in and year out.

I don't believe that current recruiting is a failing of this staff, I think it is just the result of 15 years of suckitude plus the financial realities of the new NIL era.

We will be alright, but it would be nice if just for once we could have the cheat code....you know the same one Saban had when he skipped 4-5 steps back in the late 2000s. The route we are having to take will have more ups and downs...and you just have to hope that the downs will not be so bad that momentum is ruined 🤷‍♂️

I have a friend here in Atlanta, let’s call him Paul, whose home was broken into one night. It’s 2AM, my friend wakes up because his house alarm is blaring. Paul can hear someone downstairs going room to room. Paul grabs his shotgun and has his wife grab the newborn. She locks herself and the child in their bedroom. Paul stands at the top of the stairs yelling “Get out of the house!” over and over but the intruder doesn’t leave.

Then he hears the intruder start up the stairs. Paul can’t see him because it’s a spiral staircase. Eventually the guy comes into view and Paul says a quick prayer in his head and fires at the guys knee instead of chest. Last second decision he attributes to The Lord. Nearly took the leg off though. Cops show up, come inside, and grab the perp. He says, “Oh, my leg, it hurts” they reply “Yeah, bet it hurts you dumbass, you’ve been shot”. They do some paperwork, give Paul a business card with hazmat cleanup contact, and they’re gone.

Later they discovered the guy was just drunk and forced his way in because he thought he was elsewhere. Wasn’t the first time he had done something similar though.

McCoullough getting arrested just doesn’t seem right. You should be able to punch an intruder. My friend shot a guy’s leg nearly off and the cops just hauled him away. The takeaway here is to always bring the body back inside before the cops arrive.
There wouldn't even be a criminal charge if it happened inside the apartment, knocked out teeth or no.

I stepped on one curled up under leaves in the woods and I felt the ground move under my foot. That snake didn't live much longer because it came after me.
Always wear boots in the woodsy areas 😂 I once saw a snake (don’t know what kind) in an empty lot in Destin curled up when I was walking my babies in a stroller and I was nope and I left it alone and it left us alone.. but when you almost step on em, they are gonna try to get ya lol

Its quite astonishing to me how some posters have been in this forum for YEARS and still can't comprehend that.

Or that think if you are having a miracle year on the field the current recruiting class of five stars should all just decommit from their pledged schools and crawl over each other to get to you.

Or better yet even waste their time typing their whining statements about recruiting at all when this staff has proven that their development trumps star rankings.

I'm not mad at these posters. Just disappointed.
I have higher standards than you. It’s a shame.

We’re going to be fine. Never said we weren’t. But yes, I’d like to finish in the top 10 in year 2 and out-recruit sunbelt Billy who’s having a disastrous first season at Florida.

Ask yourself, if you don’t care about recruiting or discussing recruiting, why are you here, in the recruiting forum?
