So we are heading back to TN from IL after visiting my grandparents. I am so glad we came, but it is heartbreaking. They have been married for 74 years and my PaPa is in a nursing home and my Na is still in their home about 1/4 mile away. He just can't get strong enough to do what they want him to do and so he probably won't leave the nursing home until he goes home with Jesus.
My Na is probably headed to the assisted living side soon as she has arthritis in her hips so bad she can has a hard time even walking. I will tell you though. That woman still does everything she can to take care of her husband. She collects his clothes from the nursing home everyday and washes and folds them. She makes cottage cheese and apple salad to take to him everyday because she knows he doesn't like the nursing home food. 74 years of taking care of someone and sharing life and they can't be together for the home stretch.
Sorry for bringing the mood down after the game. I just admire them so much and it just breaks my heart. This is what 74 years of marriage looks like. Two of the finest people in the world.View attachment 508137
To this day, my all-time favorite win ever is beating Alabama in 1982. Vols weren't very good and it was so unexpected........and it's the only UT/Bama game I've ever been to.I meant just for this season.
FSU in 98 is probably my top all time, hard to pick a non championship winning game over it. Hopefully this season ends with the new #1 being a CFP championship win over Ohio State or Michigan (or anyone other slow as team!)
NOTHING compares to being there. I just haven't been able to afford to go this year, and when I did have a lil extra I had other responsibilities. I am so jealous of everybody that gets to be there, but I am so thankful that we are making new memories and new diehards. To this point - many of us have speculated over the last few years if we would see stadium attendance decline precipitously as in-home television viewing experiences surged in enjoyability. (Not just UT, but really in all sports venues).
And here is Tennessee, putting a product on the field that is exciting to watch, and a live-game-stadium-experience that really has to be witnessed in person to appreciate how flawlessly scripted it is at all levels.
This will get maximum butts in seats for a long time to come, when everyone who attends a game raves about how awesome it was, and how people watching it on TV think, āman, I wish I was THERE.ā
I think we are really countering recent trends, and that is amazing.
That is why I hate them so much...same thing with the Commodewhores. They have done nothing and get a little success while we were in hell and kicked us for all they were worth.Kentucky fans are just the weirdest. Never have won a damn thing, but run their mouths like they are bammer.
