We are #14 in On3 and #12 on 247.
Yeah we are NOT doing to hot in the overall rankings and probably need to pick it up on recruiting trail.
I think some of the issues is that a class like this would have been great 10-15 years ago but now we have to go against Saban so you need 3-4 5 stars, about 12 4 stars, and some very good 3 stars.
i remember when I first started following recruiting. Around 2006 or so. These are thoughts I used to have.
After seeing what Heupel and staff can do with the group of players he got, I don't even care that much about rankings anymore.
Get me the right people in a respectable top 20 or higher class and let Heupel continue show three stars can be made into five stars.
Yeah, I hope we can buck the trend. We definitely have detractors in other discussions that I am having.
Perhaps the sport is changing.
We are pretty far down the SEC pecking order right now, though . Even Florida is ahead of us in nearly every rankings.
I’m curious as to your thoughts on the Romo stuff. I don’t think Heupel going to the league is a big concern, at this stage of his career. But do you think there’s any concern from the AD?
Ill ask you like I asked the big baby. Whose staff would you rather have?
I'm sure CJH is on other teams' radars. It would be crazy for him not to be with the incredible success he's had at UT. But I have never heard anyone say, "Sure hope Josh doesn't bolt to the NFL." I know he's very happy at UT, his family loves Knoxville and they're not looking to leave. But good offers come to good people.
What those outside the program don't take into account is that UT HCs are a very tight, very loyal group. They genuinely like each other, and the interprogram support is at a level I haven't seem since Fulmer-Bruce-Pat. And now we can fold in a championship baseball program. So I think these marquee HCs-- who've seen what it's like at other programs-- know the value of the support they have at UT and appreciate it. UT leadership has made UT a special place with the support to grow legacy programs. So if they get an offer and UT gives them what they want, I think they would all stay.
I agree on ours totally, I am just saying we probably should be ahead of them.
Then again, after some thought, we do have the NCAA crap hanging over us too. That might be impacting things. We may just have a limited number of spots and are happy with the current class. I think we have a good class, it just doesn't seem the recruiting services agree.

Got back to RVA late yesterday after going to my first game in five years. Neyland was absolutely electric. Have been to a number of games over the past 15 years, and you can just feel it's different. Heck of a game day experience, and we as fans deserve every ounce of this. No matter how the season unfolds, was glad to see this team in person. A side note, I was pretty stoked to snag one of these bottles at Cristy's Liquor store, along with enjoying some great lagers at Schulz Brau, and stuffing my face at Southern Grit. Knoxville even better than I remember!

This is a dumb take, I am sorry.
You have to believe the recruiting services somewhat because they continue to get things right with Alabama and Georgia who have pretty much dominated the SEC the last 5 years (or 15 in the case of Alabama).
A new day is dawning, son. Get with it or get left behind.
I love it!!!I've watched this 100 times (really helps that it's a short clip)
This is the product of hard work and excellent coaching.
Not a single hesitation. Even the WRs who are spread out knew exactly what to do and where to be set up.
I have no idea how this was communicated in so fast or if they put the play on the call before on the chance they didn't get the first down from 3rd down. But it is so absurdly fast. Especially on a play most coaches would spend some time thinking about play vs punt and which play and then relay that to the players who have to make sure everyone is on the same page.
So impressive. Might be one of my favorite overall plays this year.
