Getting the last visit for Arion Carter is what we needed. This momentum changing. We’re missing that championship or bust mentality or “edge” that georgia & Bama has from Kirby & Saban all the way up. I hope we’re starting to get there in that department. Donate to spyre if you can. Just another Avenue in helping

To recap:

TV, Radio and Print have to keep fans of all teams and college football engaged. That is how they make money.

Speaking of Money. IF Tennessee takes care of business the remaining 3 games. Tennessee WILL be in the CFP. The TV ratings and butts in the seats for Tennessee will not be passed up.

All this discussion is to keep the viewers/readers from tuning out thinking things are predestined.

Tennessee Football controls their own destiny into selection day. If they don't get in, they only have themselves to blame because I can assure you that all of the entities making money from the CFP want Tennessee in it.
This. ESPN content creators slam Tennessee to get views and engagement. Not to try to keep them out of the playoff.

How this weekend goes perfect for us

Colorado upsets USC
LSU wins
Bama wins
TN wins big

Indiana upsets Ohio State
Nebraska upsets Michigan
Louisville upsets Clemson
Texas beats TCU
Wake Forest upsets UNC

Stanford upsets Utah
Arizona upsets UCLA

bold = what I think is most likely to actually happen.

People upset about the ESPN talking heads.

ESPN has been doing this long enough that they know what they're doing. Everything that they say and do is by design.

They've been running shows, releasing content on their site(s) and on social media to encourage engagement and views, drawing viewers into shows that don't matter or games that they want. The sport, teams, fans themselves pay off enough. CFB is great on its own, and will pay off in the end with fantastic drama and a playoff. The sport provides its own big payoff, whether or not anyone meddles. Now, leading up to the grand finale, ESPN and other talking heads have these weekly campaigns to SQUEEZE as much money out of the sport/fans as they can. If they say something on the show, they know this certain demographic will be activated. If they take that soundbite and put it out on social, they know some other demographic will run with it. If they trash this SEC team or that SEC team, they know Finebaum and the SECN will eat all week. If they release long form articles on their site about how/if certain programs can make it, they know a certain fanbase will share it. It is beyond marketing/journalism and very much into the analytics realm.

They know that when they say something, it's to drive behavior. They know that when they say it, where they say it, and how they get that message out will ultimately feed their engagement machine, which equals money for them. These statements and actions that they do are backed by years and years of analytics and data. It's all by design at this point.

Don't let them rattle you. You wouldn't take AI seriously if it was fed data every week and told to spit out headlines that will appease analytics. That's all these guys are.

The games and rankings will be settled on the field. Any talk before, during, after the games means nothing. The talking heads that have some self-respect will give their case at the end of the season. That's when you get Kirk or whoever waxing poetically directly into the camera with a (finally) sincere take on a team or scenario. Up until then they are stirring the pot because it directly impacts how they are paid.

ESPN hates UT……;)

I think it’s because ESPN is in Connecticut. Geno vs Pat…..

Its almost like they've learned something from the "news" networks. Shocking, I know.

People are always getting triggered by ESPN (and lots more) on here. It's funny to watch like Yosemite Sam.
