Kansas has fallen back down to earth. Yes, they're bowl eligible, but there is a good chance they finish 6-6. That isn't COTY material. If TCU wins out, even with all their luck, Dykes has a really good case. Heupel should be a front-runner either way.

If taking in all the context...what Dykes has done with his program is remarkable, but what Heupel has done here is freaking miraculous.

Our people in charge of education are dead set against it. They think the demonization of guns is the answer. It's stupid. They think sex education will curb teen pregnancy. They think drug education will deter drug use. They think dui classes will slow drunk driving. But somehow they're against education on firearm safety.

The NRA (not a fan of the organization any longer) had a program called the Eddie the eagle program that taught firearm safety in schools. I'm pretty sure they were eventually prohibited from doing the training in schools.

Sex ed helps stop pregnancy and STDs because it teaches how to prevent pregnancy and STDs which is an outcome that you don't always want (pregnancy sometimes being what you do want). Drug education teaches you about the dangers of drugs so you at least know what kind of mess you're putting into your body and that mixing alcohol and drugs = high likely of serious OD and/or death. DUI classes are about punishment - they're not really for education, just a way for someone to make a buck from those who get caught and have to sit through one as part of their punishment.

When I was growing up we had little mini cartoons and PSAs on what to do if you encountered a firearm because accidental shootings were the main issue when it came to kids and firearms. That's not our problem with kids and guns today. Our problem today is we have far too many kids and adults who believe that firearms and violence in general is the way to solve problems. Educating people on how to store, operate, and carry firearms won't help us a bit with that problem. It will only help reduce accidental deaths but we're not dealing with accidental deaths. These are very intentional deaths.

Nothing wrong with a safety class but it's going to do what it was designed to do - keep you from accidentally shooting yourself. It's not going to really help with the fact that we have too many people that think shooting other people is the answer to any frustration they encounter.

Gun safety is designed to do exactly what those other things are designed to do. It helps prevent unintended firearm accidents. I never made the point that firearm safety training was a substitute for mental health intervention. I responded to Sarge's post that gun safety should be taught in schools. It should be just as those other things. Unless one doesn't really want to reduce unintended firearm accidents. 🤔

Just wanted to say-- we'll miss these seniors. They didn't come to UT because of the money and they didn't demand it to stay. They weren't the most coveted recruits and most of them received little recognition, but they built something because it meant something to them.

They're leaving the program a lot better than they found it, and they made Neyland a fortress again. Well done, seniors!

Mizzou DC is down bad.

Have you ever spent all night studying and felt completely prepared right before exam began then failed in an utterly embarrassing fashion?

That’s what it’s been like for our opposing defensive coaches this season.

You can stare at the study guide and practice problems all you want, but the exam itself is a completely different beast.
