Don’t disagree, but if we want to beat GA and Bama every year we absolutely will have to. The USC loss is inexcusable but these games happen, for whatever reason. I’m simply saying if we want playoff hopes on a consistent basis it goes through them. This was a Cinderella season where the stars aligned, but here we are. It’s rare that we lose to USC, buts it’s also rare we beat Bama, GA, and FLA.

The point was Clemson doesn’t have this problem so I don’t think the early Dabo years are a good comparison for us.

The early Dabo years have to be our comparison. We aren’t magically gonna start landing top 3 classes that UGA and Bama do.

My concern is for the long term, next year and beyond. If the locker room is truly divided with players resentful and turned against each other, that's not an overnight fix.

We've all heard how Tennessee was not interested in players that were solely focused on NIL. What about current players on the team that seem to be solely focused on NIL? Do those players get purged? We saw how preferential treatment and dishonesty destroyed Butch's teams. Yes, NIL is a form of preferential treatment regardless of whether it's implemented by coaching staff.
Every program including Georgia is going to have this now. It’s not going to be unique to Tennessee. Pandora’s box is open and all fans will need to adjust to the fact that the NCAA is now professional sports.

We knew coming into the season that the DBs were the thinnest, least talented position group on the team. We were able to mask that with decent pressure on the opposing QBs forcing hurried and/or bad throws. Last night, their OL was able to slow our DL enough to give Rat enough time to find open receivers. That exposed our achilles heal. Plus poor fundamentals of the DBs made the situation worse.

USC was able to use the same passing scheme tactics against us that Heupel has had success with all season. Their WR alignments and routes repeatedly confused our coverages leaving open receivers for Rat. That combined with lack of pressure was a killer.

While I'm certainly disappointed in last night's performance, I'm still proud of our season, players, and staff. We've accomplished so much more that expected. Plus we are a fun team to watch. We'll get there. Recruiting, recruiting, recruiting.

Prayers for Hooker and the other guys injured in the game. The USC turf guy responsible for their field should be fired. Totally unacceptable.

Yes! We were better with Slaughter at safety. But Martinez loves to play upperclassmen. I would play the walk on and Charles at DB unless Turnage is ok. I hate practice warriors, I only care about what happens under the lights and Turnage has played well since being allowed to play. Haddon continuing to play being awful was dreadful to watch. And Bumphus gives his all, but he is too slow. Put Pearce and Joseph in to bring some pressure with Young. Omari and Terry needed to play way more. The small packages with Baron and Eason weren’t working so stop forcing them. And Mitchell playing all night wa awful. He is terrible and a waste of space on the field. Let Herring play, he has played well all year when given the chance. I’m just at a loss of words for our defensive coaches decisions with personnel all year and not making any real changes. Only person who has their unit playing well (except for last night) is Garner. Every other group has not play well.
I want to see more young guys next week, I have seen enough of some of these seniors.

Banks has never been the sharpest tool in the shed and has always been a hothead. He has been one of my favorite players with a good redemption story and i always cheered him for it. But if he is the root of all this... F*** him for not learning anything and takin what he's been given for granted. Fool me once, not twice.

He’s the root of all what? You think it’s Jeremy Banks’s fault we got boat raced by USCe?

I bet you won’t tell him f him and he’s not that sharp to his face. That makes you a pu**y.

It’s ironic that they wanted to be paid and now that the real world has hit some of them, they get upset. Reality check-it’s the way the world revolves. Exactly what happens on an NFL roster.

All this talk about NIL (which the media loves droning on and on about) is bound to lead to thousands and thousands of destructively resentful young men when the reality is they might get $10,000 or something. It’s a train wreck you can see coming from a million miles away.

The Vanderbilt game will say a lot about both the player leadership and the coaching staff’s leadership. Will the senior leadership and coaches be able to pull the locker room together again and rebound after the loss and address the rumors or will things continue to get worse. If we lose to Vanderbilt then you would have to really question the coaching staff’s leadership

I agree. We are fine and have many reasons for optimism if we can fix whatever caused us to play as badly as we did last night, but it must happen immediately. This is a key moment and how we respond to last night is very important.

We have to beat Vanderbilt, but more than that we have to play much better. If we come in poorly prepared, and not looking like we care enough or are giving our best effort we could squeak by with a win but people will still be rightfully concerned. Maybe we could still turn things around but maybe not too.

We achieved a lot of good things this year and should be proud, but if we mess up as badly as we did last night anytime soon we could be well on our way to another failed rebuild. Once trust in a coach’s ability to succeed begins they can quickly lose momentum and any goodwill they have built up is quickly spent.

We gotta stop extending and giving HCs raises so soon. He didn't win the east or make the playoffs. That should be the bar. Just another taxslayer bowl appearance shouldn't get him squat.
I 100% disagree with this opinion. CJH has taken this program from possibly the worst situation an SEC program has seen and put us in the conversation of the CFP. He deserves a raise and a big one.

I read that here and I heard for myself AP saying "may be an elbow," which makes no sense. But if you listen to Heup's post game (I just heard it) he said this one needs to hurt and it needs to hurt for the people who didn't make the trip. That's not a thing to say about someone sick. And an injured player usuallly makes the trip in street clothes.

Very telling choice of words. No way he says that because of an injury. Not...A....Chance....

Agree to a point but Georgia and Alabama have been dealing with this before NIL so I think they've got a heads up on everyone else.

I hope none of the rumors are true. Now that I am somewhat lucid, I'll just wait and find out how Hooker is, hoping for the best, what if anything happened in the locker room last week and hope we have some players that have enough Pride in Themselves, The School and This Team to regroup and move forward. Time will tell I suppose but that one isn't an easy thing to forget and I hope none of the Players and Coaches do moving forward. This is when a coach and or coaches show their real worth.

I just don't want to see our season end another defeat next week. We have had a lot of great moments and fun this season that I haven't had in 12 years. It would be a shame to go down to Vandy cause it would destroy very thing this team has work for and the accomplishments they have achieved. Hope this team gets it together for one more win and then have a month to fix the locker room. Not that it can be fixed in a month but its a start. Time for Church.

It looked more like medial stress vs a hyper extension. I’d guess MCL/meniscus but who knows

You can see with replay that it did buckle slightly, most likely due to the terrible turf conditions. Usually with that kind of injury, its the "terrible triad", which would be an ACL tear, MCL tear, and torn medial meniscus.

Hoping this is not the case though.

Also, I'm calling Zach Arnett immediately, and I'm not hanging up the phone till he says yes

Until yesterday, Zach Arnett’s defense gave up more ppg than Banks defense. Now on average it’s a 1 ppg difference in Arnett’s favor. They gave up 256 yards rushing and 33 points to AUB. 239 rushing to UK in a loss.

Are you sure that’s who you’d call?
