Rattler looked like what everyone thought Rattler had the potential to look like coming out of HS. Why it happened last night, idk. Defense obv plays a role. But that dude didn’t miss last night.
Beamer seems like a good motivator. He’s probably been hyping him since we beat Bama that rattler could beat us, it was his game to shine, ect. He had the confidence and we couldn’t get a stop early and the rest is history. 1000% Beamer had this game circled since last year

Yes, they can. Those aren’t mutually exclusive. You can’t make those assumptions off of one game. I guess Spurrier was bad since Butch Jones beat him? When you coach 30;40;50+ games, these things happen. You just hope it’s not for a playoff spot.

We saw all four playoff teams struggle yesterday, some more than others. It happens, but really good teams can hang on and win. We hung on for a bit and then just fell apart.

It’s similar to what these guys will experience in any company football related or not. There needs to be maturity in handling these situations.
Look at the Titans. Tannehill makes $29m, Henry is making $14m. It happens, quit being a bish about it. Banks is only costing himself money at the next level by acting like this.
The difference is that some are making a lot, some are making very little to none.

Uh he’s the coach. Have some control of your dudes. Same with CJH
Apparently you’ve never worked in management. If someone doesn’t want to do a specific job, they are their own individual self that is responsible for themselves only. So you can fire them or suspend them or let them keep doing the selfish crap. Jeremy Banks and many of the players are responsible for their half a..ed play. There wasn’t a problem against countless other teams that we’ve played. Selfish players caused the downfall last night.

SEC home field advantage, especially at night, is massive. Rattler was so comfortable and their whole team fed off the crowd, just like the Vols do in Neyland.

That game was crazy. College football is wild, man.

There's a fair amount of parity in the SEC this year too. More than I've seen in a long time. UGA is lucky to not have a loss. They are scraping by via bruteforcing wins with superior talent even when they aren't playing particularly well.

I think last night was just a perfect storm of bad circumstances all adding up. Somewhat similar to USC 2016, actually.

-Offense was slightly off (but did enough to win, barring Hooker's injury)

-Quite likely some truth to the Banks rumors, so our already bad defense may have been checked out or discombobulated

-Rattler played damn near perfect

-Refs were letting USC get away with a lot of holding and nailed us on some iffy penalties

-Gamecocks started red hot and had momentum for virtually the entire game, creating a hostile environment that our team wasn't expecting

-Coaches and players likely overlooked USC to a degree

Rattler playing perfect is probably the biggest factor, to be honest. Even with everything else going on, we still win that game if he's average and misses some throws. But he was Mahomes out there.
Good summary, my thoughts also.

Butch never whipped Spurriers arse like that.

Definitely blame the scheme on Banks. But, looking at the body of work we played a good style of defense this year.

I like Martinez' SEC experience. I think we arent far enough removed from the suck to make wholesale changes.

Banks has earned another year, but, after Y3. He's gone if it continues like this. Last night was pitiful. Some of that is on offensive coaching too.

What's most damning to me is lack of recruiting successes on defense, specifically at LB & Secondary. THAT is completely inexcusable.

We had 0 depth to start the season. And injuries hve killed us.

Players should be jumping to play for this team.

The same as in every company. You know what they could have done, used their social media platform to help garner them more money. Or go ask Grant Ferking “what can I do to increase my profile?” Or simply go to class or be a good teammate.

Hendon and Hyatt did what they needed to to increase their revenue. So have others.

I’m all for getting the ball to start the 2nd half, so you can try to steal a possession at the end of the 1st. But I’m a firm believer when you’re in a hostile environment you take the ball first if you can, especially if you have a good offense. You have a chance to somewhat kill momentum and the crowd before it gets too crazy

They absolutely whipped our arses....... In every aspect of the game.

If he's not a good coach and this staff got out coached and out prepared by that staff then Huepel isn't who we thought he was. Both things can't be true.

They can both be true.

I’m sure Tim Banks is likely done.

I’ve been defending Tim Banks all season. And the numbers, besides pass D, backed that up. Really had a good bend, don’t break scheme going which I thought was great with the personnel we have.

Then last night happened. Having trouble with that one.
