UT is in full-on win championships mode. DW meets with the HCs and asks them what they need to win championships. They tell him, and he goes to work making it happen. UT is already invested in master plan upgrades, facility renos and providing the resources programs need to win now. Capital improvements take a while because they have so many moving parts and involve third-party input that can bog down the process, But the needs of every marquee sport are being addressed, and the coaches are on board. Women's sports need to get back on track, but football, MBB and baseball are in good shape-- and in good hands.

I don't know any of the details on how he lured the Men's XC coach away from Notre Dame but that program will be relevant on the national scene (as it was in the early - mid 90's) very soon.

Woah…..selling beer in a stadium….caused more unruly fans to appear? Wait what!?!?! How could we have seen this coming. I am SHOCKED that this happened. I can totally understand why Knoxville wants to stop selling beer at games. They never could have predicted it would affect people’s behavior.

There is actually some data out there that suggests the levels of intoxication at sporting events is less when the venue sells beer. When they don't sell beer, people either get extra drunk before going in, or they sneak in liquor. Expensive beer and long lines to procure it actually lessen the overall drunkness of the crowd vs encouraging extreme drunkenness by prohibiting beer sales. Even if you constantly re-entered the beer line the minute you finished your beer, you'd only be able to drink 7 or 8 over the course of the game, and you'd spend a fortune.

That said, no matter what you do, there will always be some extreme drunks no matter what you do. I think blaming beer sales is a lazy excuse for that, and prohibiting beer sales definitely won't reduce the number of extreme drunks. Those people are going to get hammered no matter what your policy is.

My 6 years at UT I saw more kids getting carried out on stretchers than I needed to because they’d slam liquor before and be absolutely dunzo by the second quarter

We use to get a pint of gin, pour in a Big Gulp with Sprite and walk right on in.....but that was many moons ago.

Wait, so our RBs are good? Would never know reading VN.

Who is saying they aren't good? We've said all along that we could upgrade with some home-run hitters at the position. Hilarious to see you just sit around and invent things to get upset/self-righteous about.
