That stretch to start the game was just brutal. Then you can see where we ran out of gas near the end.

We need some smelling salts coming out of the locker room.

They win big games. They just beat the number 1 team. It's a pet peeve of mine missing FT. There is never an excuse for not making at least 75 percent as a team, other than not practicing them.
They have to practice them tired. It's more difficult when you're winded. Our conditioning is great but we still need to practice more, I agree.

Our guys are poor shooters - period. It's not surprising they miss FTs with their shooting percentage overall. FTs would solve a lot of problems (even win games) but they're also a reflection of just how bad they are at shooting overall.

I posted the stats recently. Aside from last year, Barnes’ teams at UT have been very good FT shooting teams. As in, top 60 nationally.

Did we lose a staffer in that time frame who was in charge of that area? Ultimately, FTs are a player responsibility, imo. That's something you do on your own constantly but obviously you also have practice and work with staff formally and coaches can lay down the law if you don't hit a certain percentage. Just feels like our guys are spending their own practice time practicing dunks instead of FTs and 3s.

This year, we have a few that really bring down the average. While SV has had two instances of high profile misses, his average is still good. We shoot 72.7%, but Plavsic and Awaka are in the 40’s and Mashack is at 60%. Everyone else shoots 70% or above.

Why is Butch Jones the head coach and gonna be speaking to the media? 😆. . .

Please God, I hope I didn't switch into a different simulation where Butch is still the head coach.

Generally not one to complain about officiating but the game was called way too tight, especially in the second half. Was more impactful on UT because Aidoo and ZZ missed significant time.

That said, just another one of those games where we couldn’t shoot and it cost us, especially on freebies.

On the plus side, Mashack being aggressive going to the hoop is a great sign for him and this team. Hopefully he keeps it up.

Tough road loss. Need JJJ and Phillips to get healthy.

Looked at it after the game, Mashak is 16/30 on FT. He's got to get better. He has the proper release outside when he's not too afraid to let it fly. His upside is off the charts if he works on the J and FT. Uros is who he is. Awaka has time to improve. A good start for him would be to square his feet to the line better. He points them left way too far.

Vols down 1-0, top 4.

My only critique so far is that we’ve run ourselves into a few outs on the base paths that were unnecessary.
