3 run homer by Charlie Taylor! Vols up 9 to 1 in 5th.

That’s awesome. A coworker of mine knows Chuck and his family and updates me periodically on him. He’s apparently a great defender, but has felt pressure to improve his hitting to stay in the lineup. Glad to see him have some success. It sounds like a total grind to be a college baseball player, particularly with so few scholarships, etc. Many of these guys are doing it out of a genuine love of the game, that’s for sure.

Not going to lie. Starting to feel bad for the pitcher.

He just hit another one! He was a double away from the cycle too.

There was a bad fire back in 2019.

Wildfire rages deep inside NC’s Linville Gorge. Cause is found at abandoned campsite

Going back and looking at history of that walk. Virginia, Slash, Scots, EW, Red, Sand, Shortleaf, and a black. (it was in a gated community).

So my recollecrion of 20 was just a bit outside. Now that I go back and look, i was confusing many of the pines with the sheer amount of Quercus and Acers'.
Ah yeah, those make sense because of the neighborhood. People plant crazy stuff. Only 4 native Acers (sugar maple, silver maple, red maple, and box elder) but people plant Japanese, Norway, and a plethora of weird crosses and Frankentrees.

The Quercus genus (oaks for those that don't know) is fascinating. Nerdy folks should listen to the In Defense of Plants podcast episodes about oak biodiversity. It's nuts... err... akerns

That 15-run inning was something else. Charlie Taylor with 2 HRs in the game. Fun to watch.
"Last year we were winning 30-0. Going to be a rough, rough season like I said last week"

- That guy that said we'd have a rough, rough season ahead after completing 3% of the regular season.

Considered invasive species in Georgia. Planted one in my yard back in 06, by 2015 was 40 feet tall and yard was nothing but dirt. Hurricane force winds in 18 tore it to pieces and I still fight to regain the yard
Invasive throughout the US. Brought over from Asia.

However, high dollar tree in Japanese markets. They've made their furniture and fancy boxes for centuries with it. But it grows better in the US. I believe there's a giant one that Andrew Jackson planted at the Hermitage but it might've blown over with that tornado a few years ago.
