Top 5 SEC coaches, assuming it's based on what they've done in the SEC.

1. Nick Saban - 6 championships, obviously #1
2. Kirby Smart - 2 championships, only other active SEC HC with a ring
3. Josh Heupel - 11-2 in year 2 beat Saban and beat Kelly
4. Brian Kelly - 10-4 in year 1 and made the SEC title game, if you just look at the fact he was in Atlanta I can get why he'd be ahead of Heupel
5. Lane Kiffin - hasn't won 11 games in a season yet, and hasn't been to Atlanta no way should he be above Heupel or Kelly

I'd probably have Mark Stoops 6th and could even see the argument for HIM to be ahead of Kiffin. Jimbo is firmly at 7 after than the rest are all pretty average.
But is it based on career or where they stand "now"? Saban is still a great coach, but he's not at the same level he was 3 years ago. If it's based on where they are now, I still say Smart is #1, Heupel is #2, and Saban is #3.

Agreed. but Huep hasnt earned to be above Brian Kelly.

I think he's a better coach, all day and everyday on Sunday. But, doesnt mean the body of work is better.

Again, the premise is going into the next season, which suggests to me rankings are where they are now, not where they've been. Heupel is easily above Kelly right now. Maybe not all time, but definitely right now.

Uhh...he dog walked his ass in Baton Rouge, Kelly was only in Atlanta because Heupel also beat Saban.

LSU got to Atlanta off one single win, an OT one over Bama they didn't deserve to be there otherwise.

Greg's response was probably "let's see how they do without Hooker, Hooker has been there for two years and has been "their saving grace" if you will"

or some other stupid ass excuse
Bama has a much bigger question mark at QB than Tennessee does. Truthfully, so does UGA. Milton has seen more game action than whoever either of those teams trot out there.

Overall body of work. That douche has won longer at a higher level. I agree with you.

Listen, you giant purple fuzz ball.

Nah, i agree. Just wanted to call you a fuzz ball, fuzz ball.

If you want to do a top 5 about next season...

1. Georgia - lost their Natty Ice QB, but still a loaded team and he wasn't why they were so successful
2. Alabama - didn't look like the same powerhouse they have in the past AND losing their Heisman QB
3. LSU - went to Atlanta and returns arguably one of the best QBs in the SEC
4. Tennessee - Hooker is gone BUT loaded incoming class, Milton will take over in year 3 with this staff/system and Heupel
5. Ole Miss - Returns Dart and they did win 8 games with Mississippi State likely dropping off since Leach passed they should be better

And the rest of 'em cause why not

6. South Carolina - I hate Beamer, but Rattlecan returns and everyone else in the SEC hasn't looked good enough to be ahead of them
7. Arkansas - wildcard here...could be 5th honestly even with their struggles they did win 7 games and KJ Jefferson returns they only lost badly to Bama & Mississippi State
8. Kentucky - big dip having to replace the best QB in the draft!!!!
9. A&M - idk what they'll do...Jimbo is so far behind the times it's comical but they've paid for a lot of stars...just hope when they come to Neyland they get skull drug otherwise don't care
10-14. battle for worst, Missouri, Vandy, Florida, Auburn, or Mississippi State...feel like Mississippi State or Vandy finishes last

74.2% vs 72.7%

I guess if you just wanna pat Kelly on the back for his years of cherry picking schedules at ND then he's got an edge. Won the Mac title and the Big East (twice) but his best run at ND when they lost in the BCS title game was a season where they had to vacate all their wins.

My ranking was based on SEC success though and I'd still have Heupel ahead of Kiffin and Kelly since he's won more than they have in the SEC so far.

I love the enthusiasm, and I'm a big fan of Heupel also. However, Heupel shouldn't be ranked ahead of Saban now.

Respect is earned. Say what you will, he's a creepball of a human. Detestable, narcissistic ahole to humans.

Bur he won longer at a higher level. Not judging his golf swing here.

I disagree based off of last season. I think it's a close race, and Saban can overtake him again, but right now, I'd have Heupel slightly ahead.

But if you go all time, Saban is clearly at the top.

Brian Kelly had 2 season with 12 wins at Notre Dame and in both those seasons when he got to the big show his teams got absolutely destroyed.

2018 - 30 to 3 loss to Clemson
2012 - 42 to 14 loss to Alabama (a season where all the wins were vacated)

He hasn't won any championships at a higher level than Group of 5. And even then Notre Dame isn't a higher level than the SEC where Heupel has won more AND dominated in their only head to head matchup.

Kelly has 14 years more time coaching is the only difference between the two and in those additional 14 years he's finished 2 seasons sub 500.

Huepel had one 11 win season at TN.

I think, at least in my mind, he jumps BK if he consistently wins for 1,2 more seasons. It should NOT go unnoticed what Huepel did with this dumpster fire.

Honestly, I think Heupel's 6-4 COVID season still hurts his reputation a bit. It created the perception that UCF was trending down under him, which makes people a little more skeptical of his success thus far at UT.

To a skeptic, it looks like he had a great first season with Frost's players, regressed in year two, then regressed even further in year 3. Then he goes to Knoxville and lucks into Hendon Hooker, Cedric Tillman, and Jalin Hyatt.

That said, a successful season this year without any of those guys will put the skepticism to rest.

That’s crazy to me…because he isn’t considering how much hooker improved under Josh in year 2…so I tend to look at the pedigree blueprint here…Joe beat Clemson and that’s coming back after all of the negative backlash he faced for subpar play. we never knew which joe Milton we would get going into bowl week..during that game I seen no regression only improvement, just like hendon.

I expect little to zero drop off this coming season with joe running the offense.People just like to stir the pot and there’s no better fan base to do that with other than us…props to him and his marketing team on increasing the subscriber numbers🤣🤣

Everyone on here that has interest to go to the Tennessee Bama game this coming season has a good 8 months to start putting aside extra money for it. I’ll be going as a party of 3. We need to over take the gump stadium. Side note here is if you’re a female I understand the Hesitancy to go. The gumps don’t exactly have a good reputation towards women these days. Sad
