They could not get shots they usually hit to drop...that is what caused them to get flustered. Have you never had that happen to you in a game? Were you "scared"...or did you just get frustrated?

Candace Parker even said when their shots stopped dropping they all started 2nd guessing their shot selection and didn’t have confidence. That’s called playing scared. She just said it nicer.

Pressing isn’t second guessing yourself and playing without confidence. That’s called playing scared.

For sure in sports there were times I started 2nd guessing myself. And guess what? I was playing scared. Bc that’s what that is. Purdue played scared. Scared to take shots bc scared they’d miss shots.

Edit: neither of us have said we may both be right. Some guys were pressing, some played scared. Either way, the moment was too big for Purdue.

It was crazy, they had the shortest guy on the floor driving the paint 6 or 7 times (missing or getting blocked almost every time) in the last quarter and never once did they send it inside to Edey.

There are no flukes in basketball. Richt Barnes lost control of Purdue and underachieved.

SEC goes 6-2 in first round. A little surprising to me. But I expect many (including us) to fall in round two.

Doesn't surprise me tbh. The SEC is becoming one of the best leagues in the country. The ACC is down. The PAC12 is down. The Big12 is on top with the SEC close behind. Feels like the Big10 is meh now.

Old school…. Built on toughness, defense…. Not a great scoring team although can put up points in regular season….. struggles when things get tighter in the tourney…. Gene Keady made 2 elite eights in 25 years at Purdue…. Matt Painter has made 1 in 15 years while also losing to FDU( didn’t even win its conference or conf tourney)… North Texas, ST Peters, .14 seed Texas Tech, 12 seed Xavier…. They have been beat by double digits in many more tourney games…. It’s hardly a coincidence, imo.
