Anyone see Penny throw a water bottle after they lost and stormed out? They just gonna let that go? I guess nothing to penalize them with but just shows no class... He looked awkward like he'd never thrown a ball in his life...

Loyola Marymount beats Michigan 149-115 in the highest scoring NCAA tournament game ever.

Of all the statistics, the most impressive had to be Loyola Marymount’s performance behind the arc. The Lions finished 21-40 from 3-point land. Senior Jeff Fryer set an NCAA Tournament record converting on 11 threes. He finished the game with 41 points.
With Fryer lighting it up from deep, Bo Kimble had a typical Bo Kimble-like performance in the paint scoring 37 points. The two Lions players combined to score more points (78) than 22 of the 32 teams that made it to the second round of the tournament.
The 264 points were the most in NCAA Tournament history, breaking the previous mark of 247 set in 1961 when St. Joseph’s (Pa.) beat Utah 127-120 in four overtimes.
Loyola Marymount won its Sweet 16 matchup against Alabama before falling in the Elite 8 to eventual national champion UNLV, 131-101.
The Lions’ NCAA Tournament run was over, but the team had made its mark with the fans, and more significantly, in the record books.

My big key for this game, not that anyone asked, is that if we get big production from ON and Santi, we win. I’m talking 15+ points apiece. That opens up the floor and allows opportunities for Key, Philips etc. to make plays on offense. We shall see.

Sorta sad we lost our #1 KenPom ranking. UCLA is now #1. I remember when we had a low 83 rating, historically tops. Granted we hadn't quite gotten into the meat of our schedule, but it looked like we could still stay in the 83 or 84s.

Gonna need to bring that #1 early season defense that stifled the big dogs today.

Duke are going to be feeding Filipkowski. Uros best be ready to take him to the boom boom room. Need him on the court, out of foul trouble, and playing the game of his life.

If ON, Uros, Aidoo, and Awaka can own the paint on both ends that would be huge.

Don't think I've even ever heard of TCU basketball before. Only CFP team that even made the tourney in basketball (shame on Michigan and OSU lol).

Quite the year for lowly TCU sports.

O/U 1.5 technicals for Uros today

I have a feeling he's going to come in with a chip on his shoulder and go to freakin war. Will mostly be a big positive, but will come back to bite us a bit at some point. He's going into Crazy Ivan mode for sure today and I'm here for it.

Something the Vols have done all season. Man. Zone. Perimeter offense with multiple guards. Inside out. Heavy post play. Small ball, big ball. They've played and defended it all multiple ways. It hasn't always been good, but they've done it.

How instrumental were those losses to Vandy and Mizzou when we found ourselves in the same position against Louisiana? This time we hit our FTs and kept them from having the opportunity at a tying or winning shot.

I hope not. We need him in this game, but I think Barnes will pull him if he gets T'd. He's over his antics.

Just glad Adams face won't be in the middle of bad game changing calls against us. The Dukey bets making Vegas think about things today and wo the refs will be. They rely a lot on freshman, which should be a plus with our more experienced squad. If the refs don't get in the way we have a good chance to take this game.

They are a program currently that shrinks under the bright lights. 3 straight years getting bounced by a 13 seed or worse. Leads me to believe Painter coaches scared in those games. Or coaches confused. Bc he doesn’t have answers. And the team looked flustered which most likely comes from the top. Again, besides that giant. Thought he did all he could
Mehdiocre offense...relies on defense.

Similar to UVA the other 1 seed to have lost

Yet to see an offensive minded 1 seed even have a scare. And yet the ole "defense travels" narrative lives. Maybe it does, but in March it just takes one team to hit a few extra shots against your great defense and you're sunk because you're sitting there with 58 pts...

Maybe just me, but it feels similar to football. Yes, great to have both offense and defense, but the last 5 champs have been top 8 in offense:

2022 - 4th
2021 - 8th
2020 - 2nd
2019 - 1st

Defense those same years:

2022 - 5th
2021 - 1st
2020 - 19th
2019 - 33rd

It's becoming the name of the game(s)

You could definitely go the MCB route, but I'd also go with the last time we saw them in March Madness. We had a great team and got screwed by a great actor kicking his legs out smdh

We have the worst luck against Purdue on game ending shizzy calls.

I'll at least say the bball one was a tougher call. The MCB call was pure BS. Just completely idiotic stoppage of play. Let it be remembered - always state our record in 2021 as 8-5...

We all know what is going to happen today. It’s inevitable. We have to have our A offensive game with no long scoring droughts, and our usual elite defense. We will get zero favors from the refs. I wouldn’t doubt to see Pat Adams on the call again.
Pat is calling the Furman/San Diego St game.

Old school…. Built on toughness, defense…. Not a great scoring team although can put up points in regular season….. struggles when things get tighter in the tourney…. Gene Keady made 2 elite eights in 25 years at Purdue…. Matt Painter has made 1 in 15 years while also losing to FDU( didn’t even win its conference or conf tourney)… North Texas, ST Peters, .14 seed Texas Tech, 12 seed Xavier…. They have been beat by double digits in many more tourney games…. It’s hardly a coincidence, imo.
So toughness and defense cause you to suck...makes sense..😏

Doesn't surprise me tbh. The SEC is becoming one of the best leagues in the country. The ACC is down. The PAC12 is down. The Big12 is on top with the SEC close behind. Feels like the Big10 is meh now.
That sucks. That's the last thing we need. Screw Bama. Screw UK. And (for the future) screw Texas. Hope they all lose by a thousand and never recover from it.

If I'm Barnes I point to Uros, ON, JJJ, and Santi and I ask them if the Louisiana game had been their last would the be proud of how they played and the contribution they gave.

I tell them this could be their last game. How do they want their legacy to look and how do they want their last performance to feel.

Play smart, play hard.
