Lol. I listened to this reasoning all through the last few years of Fulmer. Here we are in 2023, finality relevant in football again. That’s my point. It is much more likely we hire a few busts before returning to consistency, regardless of all the positives in our favor.

Also, I want to point out that the refs are on down the list of reasons why we lost this game. They just suck generally but I don't necessarily feel they were out to get our ass this game. We beat ourselves, in multiple ways. That and FAU just did what they do and we let 'em.

At the end of the day, this team truly overachieved. When you have an entire roster full of streaky shooters, you usually won't win near this many games. I appreciate what those guys gave for Tennessee, but personally I hope all the seniors leave and we bring in other players. The team might not do as well as this one, but I'm pretty confident this is by far the best you will get out of this particular team. GBO

I agree with you but I also don’t see Barnes changing much. It’s Stone Age offense in an era of efficient, high powered offense. Not great.

Barnes can be the best coach Tennessee has ever had while also needing to retire and the game passing him up. Both can be true

Not even mad anymore. Just sad. I just want the good things for this university. For myself as a fan. We've been garbage at everything since I could remember.

I'm thankful we have a football program on the cusp of playoff contention. A basketball program playing in the postseason every year and making the Sweet 16. Women's basketball team back in the Sweet 16 and a chance to upset a 1 seed. A baseball team that went to the CWS two years ago and was the overall #1 last year. A softball team sitting at #2 in the country. Sports like tennis, golf, and track & field consistently successful.

But I want us to stop coming up short for once.

I prayed Barnes would win this thing because it's the same thing with fans, they hate on him regardless of what his teams has achieved.. His team beat Gonzaga, Duke, Kansas, Alabama and Texas. They were ranked number 2 in the country.

I posted on here one time that DW has only hired one bad coach out of 12-13 that he has hired and it was a women’s softball coach…. The man knows what he is looking for in a coach and gives them everything needed to succeed.

Awaka did play. He got lost on two consecutive defensive possessions and was taken out.

I'm not shocked at the result but it still sucks. This group of seniors were plagued by inconsistent play throughout their time here and this tournament was a microcosm of it as someone pointed out earlier. Can't say I'll miss these guys but I appreciate them for some great wins and moments

JJJ and Phillips have zero reasons to go pro, especially Phillips. Glad we're getting an infusion if talent with the incoming freshman and reshirts. Definitely need a really good transfer PG without question since ZZ has a long recovery ahead. Some guys need to go.

They didn’t physical at all. Their 7 footer was soft and flopped all game…literally.

They out rebounded us and had more points in the paint, they swarmed when we did get the ball in the paint and caused problems.

Why do you think Barnes is that good? Why do you think we can’t get a better coach?

Our history. Barnes is good, he's an excellent defensive coach. He took a flawed team with slightly above average scorers halfway into the tourney without a true PG.

He recruits well but I think his philosophy is flawed, not enough offense and I don't see a lot of offensive help coming. We need some transfer scoring help but we thought we had that this year on Key. But he's just really inconsistent. Honestly he's one of those practice warriors who makes you think you have a dog when in reality when the lights go on he's just a role player, a really streaky guy more role player than true scoring contributor.

I honestly don't see the kind of help we need hitching to his philosophy. He seems to have put a lot of his eggs in the international style guys.

Who do you think we can bring in that will recruit at the level needed? Especially in the NIL and transfer era? There's a lot of fools gold out there.
