I don’t understand this logic either
Barnes supporters act like we’re gonna be crap again when he retires and they don’t let anyone criticize him for anything bc I guess they think he has tiny feelings like they do
He is the best we have ever had but there’s no reason we can’t stay good when he retires
I do t understand why we can’t get a good young coach and continue the momentum he helped create

I will say that I don't think this administration would let Tyndall happen. I also think Barnes should and will be allowed to go out on his own terms when he is ready

JJJ and Phillips have zero reasons to go pro, especially Phillips. Glad we're getting an infusion if talent with the incoming freshman and reshirts. Definitely need a really good transfer PG without question since ZZ has a long recovery ahead. Some guys need to go.

This is not a black and white issue tbh. You can definitely point a lot of criticism at both Barnes and this team without wanting him fired or denigrating a bunch of kids. It is what it is. We did exceed expectations but we also should have won this game and been in the E8. The sides of this are not mutually exclusive.

I only saw one "blatant" foul on him. #50 was shameless in his lack of balance aka acting. I hated those guys even when they were on my team.

That’s not totally accurate. Freddie Dilione re-classified and enrolled in January and isn’t included in that. He’s a top 35 player and combo guard. We will be pretty good again.

Also, I want to point out that the refs are on down the list of reasons why we lost this game. They just suck generally but I don't necessarily feel they were out to get our ass this game. We beat ourselves, in multiple ways. That and FAU just did what they do and we let 'em.

I agree refs in college basketball are just bad and inconsistent. At about 5 minute mark when game was within reach, the bald headed ref called ball out of bounds on us when No. 23 of FAU hit it out. FAU then hit a three. That one bad call was a big turn in game. I do not think he was intentionally calling it against us, he just made a bad call and the other two did not see it.

I agree with you but I also don’t see Barnes changing much. It’s Stone Age offense in an era of efficient, high powered offense. Not great.

I see exactly what you're getting at. As an older gentleman myself, I know how hard it is to change. I don't know Coach Barnes, but hopefully after this embarrassment tonight he will look at himself in the mirror and realize something needs to change.

He knows the characteristics of what he looks for in a coach… he has hired 3 basketball coaches that have elevated the program every time.

Again, I like DW but he’d be wise to stick with Barnes and only cut ties with him if he starts missing the tourney on a regular basis

I don’t have blind faith in DW but I have faith based on his track record of hiring HCs in both bball and football.

He knows what he’s looking for and he’ll find it post-Barnes. I also do not think Barnes should be gone, tho.

I posted on here one time that DW has only hired one bad coach out of 12-13 that he has hired and it was a women’s softball coach…. The man knows what he is looking for in a coach and gives them everything needed to succeed.

The loss overall isn't all on Barnes, that is not fair at all but he does deserve some pretty pointed criticism without FAHRING him. 15-2 run with no timeout, this prehistoric all defense/no offense system, the continued inability to recruit or create a consistent scoring threat. All fair and warranted criticism imo.

I also have to think to myself we lost our point guard, soul of the team, was always a threat from deep, and was a finalist for defensive player of the year before he got hurt. Honestly we probably shouldn't have made it as far as we did.
