That's like hitting the lotto. Good for him after his Bama saga.
Can't wait for Tennessee QBs to start raking in deals like this.
I don't think the Eagles will win a championship this decade now, but that's beside the point.
Shut his mouth, played his team into the SB and seconds away from a victory…gets paid. Take notes, Lamar. And forward those notes to DeMaurice “Racist Collusion” Smith.![]()
we'll be moving up this list this year. Bru + Thornton next year? Think we could have a third guy already on the roster that gets a look as well next year.
The fact that Heupel coached a 4 star to win the Biletnikoff award and a 4 star to be a Heisman runner up over all those 5 stars should tell you all you need to know. Not to mention that team of 3 stars won 11 games....It's raining 3 stars on rocky top! Where are the blue chippers at?? Thought this class was DEFINTELY going to be better but it looks as if it's going just like last year. Not good enough to close the gap on Georgia.
Why you sitting in the shade? You can do that anywhere.Good morning from Palm Springs you Morans.......love this place.View attachment 546923
What impressed me the most and it may not be much is the defense looked faster and quicker to the ball…they were swarming
i paired down your post for the points i thought rang the truest to me.I said earlier in the spring that I thought maybe we might only have a couple toss-up games this year based on Bill Connelly’s first edition preseason SP+ with those two teams being Alabama and Georgia. I think there are some other games which could be tough, A&M for example. A&M has a lot of talent and the most returning production in the conference. SP+ favors us in that game but I think A&M could be underrated depending on how much dysfunction or lack thereof their coaching staff has to deal with this year. jmo.
I think UF will likely be much improved on defense this year. Napier is sort of like Kirby, Stoops, and Narduzzi. He wants to put a good defense on the field and control the ball on offense. Some UF fans are in dismay with that approach as the thinking is if you don’t have an elite offense nowadays you can’t really play catch up very well if you fall behind on the scoreboard. The problem Napier will have with us is that our defense is designed to stop the run and we were wildly successful at that last year and I think could be even better this year. I think Napier could be a couple years away from having the team he wants. He is doing pretty good in recruiting so far. jmo.
While I think A&M may likely be underrated coming into this year, I think UK and MO are overrated. I think Alabama and probably Georgia are somewhat overrated as to some extent they often are due to their recruiting success. It doesn’t mean they don’t win; it means the margin of their wins is often overestimated in the preseason and I attribute that to the weighting given to their outperformance in recruiting. Alabama is near the bottom of FBS in returning production and has to contend with new coordinators on both sides of the ball as well as fielding a new QB. We’ll also be their 8th game in a row without a bye. Still, their roster is impressive, even a bit intimidating. Georgia has to deal with a new OC (still Kirby’s offense) and a new QB. Georgia should be expected to continue to be elite on defense. jmo.
South Carolina has a new OC and has struggled to field a competent OL. Beamer is working on the OL in recruiting. I think the outcome of last year’s game was the result of a labor dispute on our end and essentially a defensive walkout. We had a defensive stop rate of 70% on the year but against SC our stop rate was 10%. That was mostly on us. Still, they did beat Clemson, so it wasn’t totally a fluke. I think we gave them a lot of confidence. Without exception it seemed their fans were expecting to be annihilated by us before the game. They were ready to not only fire Satterfield but many were ready to move on from Beamer. We gave him a new lease on his job. jmo.
I know it’s popular to make fun of Beamer and Napier but I’m sort of keeping an eye on them because I think they may not turn out to be the jokes that we want them to be. jmo.
Also in the video below I think you can see that often we’re playing much tighter coverage in the secondary, something we seemingly didn’t often do last year, especially against our more talented opponents. I’ve assumed that the staff on that side of the ball hasn’t been all that trusting of the DBs we’ve had/have matching up with NFL receivers, so we may or may not see that when we take the field in the fall against better QBs. jmo.

a couple things....agree on Bama and UGA, i still thing Bama is more "gettable" than UGA, but i use that term in the most relative sense. but getting UGA at home this year...who knows.
i'm not sure where i stand on Beamer or Billy. i think Billy obviously has the better situation overall to get back faster. and Beamer...well, there was this guy named Butch Jones that beat UGA, and Florida and had us undefeated in the top ten, and we had all this momentum....and....well, he got fired the next year. so, good finish last season for USCe, but that team was as you inferred, was a disaster going in to our game and we let them off the hook. i'm still in "see it to believe it" mode on them.
A&M i think you had a good commentary, most will underrate them because of last season so it'll be interesting to see how they come out of that debacle. still a ton of talent down there, and as bad as last year was, hard to see it happen twice, right? that program will be desperate this season. and that's dangerous.
last thing on the tight coverage, i think we also saw that we struggled going against teams that covered us tight at the LOS. UGA made our lives miserable being physical at the line and so did USCe, so did Pitt to certain extent. so i think there's some adjusting on that front for both our defensive players, and offensive players, they have to be able to get in to their routes and fight thru contact. conversely, we all want to see the DB's not give away 7 yards before the ball is snapped. so two birds w/one stone?
i think this year will be good again. maybe not #1 in the playoff good again, but i could see the floor being 9-3, NYD bowl? and that's just not a bad floor....lol. i do hope we smoke USCe this year though.....i think i need to see that again...2021 was fun....do that again. i'll put Bama and UGA as L's, UF and aTm as toss ups, and i'm not scared of anyone else on the schedule.
He does look more athletic, but I'm surprised at him arm strength. Seems very average for a 5*. I know he's a freshman, but the ball doesn't zip out of his hands like you'd expect. That first throw across the field looked like he had to float it a lot. Maybe Milton has me spoiled. He’s more athletic than I thought he’d be. Pretty quick on that one scramble.
I’m aware of the situation. He’s doing it without an agent. He’s after a 100% guaranteed contract, like Deshaun Watson. Because the Ravens and every other team in the NFL, free to sign him for two firsts, haven’t bitten. DeMaurice has cried “collusion”.Heh? Lamar was already offered and turned down big money. So he could’ve already been paid. Chose to go for more. That part is on him for sure
Youre not used to a qb that can vary the speed of his passesHe does look more athletic, but I'm surprised at him arm strength. Seems very average for a 5*.
