Actually, my advice would be you play - finish it right. “It’s your decision but I will be disappointed if you abandon your team now even though they tell you they understand and are happy for you - and you will be disappointed in yourself in the long run.”
My son played basketball - he was on a rec team when he was in the 5th grade and an AAU coach wanted him to play with his team. I would not let him until the season with his rec team was over. He wasn’t happy with me at all but in the end, he was glad he did.
In real life I turned down an extremely profitable opportunity so I could ”finish the job” at a non-profit. It all worked out well in the end. I do as I say.
But it really doesn’t matter what I would say or what I think - I don’t want to think about it anymore ‘cause it makes me a bit sad. Rule number 10.
