I actually think that if Small is 100% healthy then top end speed is the only quality that Wright has over Small. I think Small is better at every other RB skill. Vision. Cutting. Falling forward. Pass pro.
I like the fact that we have 2 backs, that we can disagree as to which is better, that could start at a lot of other programs. If either is in the backfield we are good to go. Truth is Sampson is going to be a monster in this offense as well.

So question for anyone that might be a bit more football savvy than me - Heupel was asked during his Q&A whether he had any concern about the new clock stoppage rules and the whispers of a considered change to move the hashes in tighter at the college level. He dismissed the clock stoppage rules as something that everyone will deal with (I’d argue that we’re more prepared than most) but then he completely ignored the hash marks question. Almost like he didn’t want to give it any legitimacy as a discussion point. So my question is this: what’s the concern level if the NCAA was ever to change the hash marks to an NFL standard, or even just bring them in significantly? Would it be back to square one for the system? Is there any concern the move ever becomes a reality? I know the wider hash marks allows the defense to be stretched in a way that makes the system tick, and that’s often one of the biggest reason’s outlined for why the offense doesn’t work at the pro level. I’m curious if it would cripple us to the degree where Heupel would entirely have to revamp his scheme, or if it would just mean he’d have to evolve it.
Moving the hashes in tighter would increase our advantage. Our wrs already line up very wide. If the ball is spotted closer to the center, then our wrs will be able to get that much wider splits.

Why would it not be better for OUR scheme? Lots of plays end up between the hashes anyway and we have thrived. Might even help by being able to be balanced with guys outside the numbers and away from support for DB on both sides. Harder to stretch the short side with current marks and forces us to go 3 wide on long side.
I’m asking the question because it’s repeatedly been brought up as a talking point explaining why the offense doesn’t translate to the NFL. I do not pretend to have a deep understanding of the system outside of its basic principles. You’re the only person I’ve ever heard indicate that it would somehow make the offense run better. It shortens the wide side of the field when you narrow the hashes and we use the current field dimensions to create space and misdirection for route concepts. I’m not asserting anything, just discussing, cause I found it interesting that CJH didn’t respond.

I don't think it shortens it enough to make a difference. We don't go all the way to the sidelines when we're on the opposite hash. We still have several yards to widen out if theyre shortened.

On the other hand, it widens the short side of the field, making it possible to get very wide positions on both sides of the field on the same play.

Alright now they are officially the new Bama

I worked as a reporter once and this is exactly the behavior I followed to corruption. Everyone in town was terrified to speak but eventually we blew open an enormous embezzlement case. UGA and Kirby just painted a giant target on their backs. They could've simply discredited the article and managed it. That they didn't is hubris of the highest order. Unfortunately, it will probably be a while before it catches up but it eventually will catch up.
