So question for anyone that might be a bit more football savvy than me - Heupel was asked during his Q&A whether he had any concern about the new clock stoppage rules and the whispers of a considered change to move the hashes in tighter at the college level. He dismissed the clock stoppage rules as something that everyone will deal with (I’d argue that we’re more prepared than most) but then he completely ignored the hash marks question. Almost like he didn’t want to give it any legitimacy as a discussion point. So my question is this: what’s the concern level if the NCAA was ever to change the hash marks to an NFL standard, or even just bring them in significantly? Would it be back to square one for the system? Is there any concern the move ever becomes a reality? I know the wider hash marks allows the defense to be stretched in a way that makes the system tick, and that’s often one of the biggest reason’s outlined for why the offense doesn’t work at the pro level. I’m curious if it would cripple us to the degree where Heupel would entirely have to revamp his scheme, or if it would just mean he’d have to evolve it.
