Interesting Q from abroad:

"What positions do you see us improved from last year?"

I'll go with:

RB
TE
DB
LB
DT
S(?)

I feel like you have to move all the defensive positions to the top just with how bad they were overall last year. RB will be improved but the floor is higher, and honestly Fant might be underrated. If TE gets the same production I would call it a win

Will definitely be sad for Joe if he ends up dealing with poor pass pro. He, moreso than HH, really needs it for this offense to execute as it would prefer. Now...I think it'd be fine regardless, but maybe not elite and more susceptible vs the big dogs.

Unfortunately OL recruiting post-Trey/Cade just hasn't been there. Thank goodness that is coming to an end rn. Also hurts if transfers don't hit, which is a roll of the dice ofc.

But my faith with OL coaching will remain high until proven otherwise, though even the best get dealt bad hands sometimes.
Agreed. Now we need DL for 2025.

But yes, agreed.

Why does Joe need it more than Hendon?

all jokes aside, govols247 is not painting a pretty picture at ol. really hope we can develop some depth. wonder how much missing out on some key guys has or will hurt us ?

will be huge to steam roll virginia.

Edit: Ok, Sir Callahad amended the strong talk. They are young on the line.
How would 247 know? They watch about 15 more minutes of practice than we do…. The overwhelming majority of that is just drills.

Hendon was shiftier. JM is a load once he gets up and going, but isn't quite as agile as HH or Dobbs...comes with being a big fella I'd say.

Also seemed to make quicker decisions. If there's been one knock on JM, from Y1, to even the last practice report, it's holding on too long and taking neg plays from there. Hopefully his decision making has continued to develop, definitely seemed improved at the end of last year.

He also seemed a lot quicker in that last video of practice.

To be fair, they base their opinions off inside sources as well. And this is hardly an opinion coming from just one atm.

There have been many seasons where units were pointed out and turned out quite bad, if not worse, than reported. Meanwhile VQ folks attacked them for "nega reporting" what they understood. For doing their jobs.

The difference in every regard is development throughout the season. Is it there during the season or no? Or are there injuries that the unit just can't come back from? These are the things that matter. But dismissing pessimistic views from reporters over a single unit seems pointless. They're passing along info as is their job, yet units can still develop and we can still stay optimistic, while being grounded in context. Both things can be true.
