TWJHS…… That’s what John Holmes said

Man, I listened to a podcast about him a few months ago. I think it was on a true crime playlist I had on in the background while gaming and found myself listening to intently because the story was so messed up in every way imaginable. Boogie Nights totally lied about and mythologized every aspect of John Holmes and while I kinda expect that to a degree I really wasn't prepared for just how differently they portrayed things (granted that wasn't a big truth telling time in Hollywood - that was more of a trendsetting era in movies and at that time Vivid and the Adult Industry were really making their big push for legitimacy in an era where there were still the equivalent of blue laws that prevented the legal production of porn). As for Holmes tho...I really had no clue what a bad human he truly was but I will say this - the real story of John Holmes is far more intriguing and messed up than anything they portrayed.

He was a lousy person in so many ways and what's so messed up is that long after his wife stopped having anything to do with him physically (basically as soon as he started doing porn), she still took care of him and managed his affairs as best she could given the mess of an addict he was. Hell, he was with an underaged girl and his wife's response was to try and protect the girl from John's abuses as a controlling figure. I know there's a lot to that story that I can't fathom because it's a completely different generation with very different ideas and expectations put on women but I can't understand how she saw anything redeeming in him. Let alone how she went out of her way to protect the teenager who was sleeping with her husband from both her husband and that teenager's terrible parents.

As I've stated in a couple different posts his landing on this particular Titans team at this time with only a very iffy 3rd rnd rookie ahead of him and two games left might be as good an opportunity as he's likely to get.

But what if he doesn't get a chance with the Titans? What if they ride out these last 2 games with Malik Willis and he continues to look terrible. Does that mean Dobbs wasn't good enough to beat him out? Or did Josh simply have bad luck?

My argument has never been Dobbs is definitely great and anyone who believes otherwise is dumb. All I've argued is we have no idea. Because Dobbs entire career has been about a lack of opportunity. You can say it's totally his fault for never getting an opportunity. I would argue it isn't completely his fault. My argument is he has put himself in position several times already by doing everything in his power to deserve playing time. It simply hasn't worked out for him yet. We'll see if this is finally the time the chips fall in his favor. All I'm saying is it isn't an indication of him lacking talent if another organization refuses to give him a shot while a potentially inferior QB plays ahead of him.

So Banks can't play and the line goes down to -4.5??

Clemson must be missing some dudes too recently. I'm honestly afraid for our defense without him. USCjr nightmares loom large.
Yeah, the line has been intriguing to me, too. After it initially opened, it jumped all the way up to -8 at one time. It has steadily come down from that. Interested what it will be by kick off.

I think it's 18 inches.

To your first question see my post in the FF forum regarding Dobbs and the Titans.

To your second paragraph I couldn't get past the first sentence. Fortunately I wasn't drinking anything as it would have resulted in a monumental spit take. I've had to ask you this before (so maybe that in and of itself answers the question) but do you have some kind of amnesia disorder? Are you even remotely familiar with your own posting history?

Anyone else watch mob movies around this time of the year?

Running back Godfather 1 & 2 this week. It's a different kind of family movie, but you gotta spend time with the family during the holidays.
1) Yes. Just seent Goodfellas (an actual Christmas movie btw) for the millionth time and The Drop (one of Gandolfini's last movies)...for the second time.

2) Though I watch mafioso movies year round. Sort of my film obsession. Have really been digging around for more stuff in recent years. Once Upon a Time in America is interesting if not merely for its immense scope and length (there's a softball for @Glitch). Gomorrah is another great one and completely different (more realistic and negative) than any other I've seen. It spits on all the glitz and glamour of the bosses and shows the destruction of entire neighborhoods that it takes to make the few at the top rich and powerful.

If you have any good suggestions, please post em. I'm always hungry for new stuff.
