Pitchers used to rub the ball in dirt so the hitters couldn’t see it… until they banned the practice 🤣

Baseball has a long and storied tradition of players and teams angling for an edge. It’s part of the game.
And that made the ball go 100 mph when they regularly threw 80?

This was all 24 plus years ago. Truck broken into and truck stolen in Antioch. Car stolen and cars broken into were downtown close to titans stadium before it was built.

Was actually going to ask if it was Antioch. And yeah, that area along the River wasn’t great before the Titans came and not much improved since then.

Greenies never created a Brady Anderson one-off 50 homer season. Being super alert and focused didn't make cartoon stats. And if you believe mushed up sheep testicles that he injected did anything more than make Babe violently ill, you're gonna exhaust the world aluminum foil market. Bonds was on the downside of his career with a NATURAL potential of 500 homeruns and PEDS made him a record holder. One salient point on the BALCO Netflix doc carried over for me. In the midst of that record breaking homerun season, Bonds did an interview and stated "I don't know WHY I'm suddenly hitting homers. If I KNEW, I'd have done it a long time ago!' The blatant lying hypocrisy should shake some of his water carriers, if nothing else.
Rafael Palmeiro " I have never taken a Performance Enhancing Drug" ......🤣🤣🤣🤣

Just going to throw this on the fire and then go about my day…

Prime Barry Bonds was the greatest hitter who ever lived, steroids or no, and it’s not particularly close.

Y’all have a good weekend!

I put him behind Ted Williams and Tony Gwynn...both HOFers.

This important point seems to have been omitted from the SEC's release at the spring meeting:

But who would love this more than Sabey and Sabey's direct report Sankey? So I checked a Bammaw source. Per AL.com:

"Fines will now be paid to the opposing schools instead of the previous model that had the money go to an SEC scholarship fund. The new fine structure:
  • First offense: $100,000 (up from $50,000)
  • Second offense: $250,000 (up from $100,000)
  • Third and up: $500,000 (up from $250,000)
"Under this plan, Alabama would have been paid $1 million last year with $500,000 apiece from Tennessee and LSU after the field was rushed after both Tide losses.

"Alabama AD Greg Byrne was part of a three-person working group tasked with finding solutions to field-storming incidents that turned ugly. He suggested stripping home games from offending teams..."

Source: New SEC field-storming rules increase fines

Byrne had an "interesting" suggestion:

“...do you lose a home game?” Byrne said. “I don’t know how much support that has. Is there a way to do some more fines in a little more creative way?"

What you got was Bama-initated "creativity." Source: New policy: SEC teams will pay opponents if fans storm field
Twitter Vols blow this up! This is blatant corruption!

Was just coming to post this. Always love to have a former Vol on my Dolphins. He played under Fangio at Denver so he will come in already knowing the ins and outs of his defense. Good spot for him to land.
I just want him to be successful and collect as much money as possible after what he went through. Remember he was just living with that family for years and training? Wasted his prime earning years as a player.

I’m not a water carrier for Bonds and don’t personally like him…. I just don’t care that he used steroids…… The only difference between Bonds and those other players is that steroids were better than what the players during those eras were using to cheat…. If a man will take something from a sheep testicle…. He would take steroids.

Nobody was doing roids to the industrial institutional level that the Cornroiders were...it was obvious just looking at them. They were no more talented than 10 other teams at any given time...they just juiced them all into superstars.

If you wanna give them a Bozo button for figuring out that you could take multiple walk-ons, add Steroids and POOF turn them into All-Americans...then that's your choice.

I think they were a well coached team that steroids made infinitely better....without them they were still a very good team imo, but not the bulldozer that their institutional steroid program MADE them.

Sure every team had guys on the juice...but NO other program institutionalized it's use in their S&C program like Nebraska did.
Is the debate which was the best team ever? Or which was the best team ever that got there in the most pure, innocent manner? The team on the field was the team on the field, no matter how they got there. Which team in history has cheated most egregiously is a completely different argument.

You smoke oregano? You’re not a POTHEAD. Pretty sure sheep testicle hash isn’t a PED…because it doesn’t work! Bonds used designer drugs to break a couple hallowed records. I’m glad it cost him an honor he would have cleanly garnered.

Whether the sheep testicles worked or not wasn’t his argument. He argued that if he was willing to do that thinking it would give him an edge, he would have done steroids in this era. By the way, someone smoking oregano trying to get high bc they don’t know any better, is still someone trying to get high but just failing.

Ruth used sheep testicle bc he thought it made him stronger so he could hit the ball farther. Greenies were used bc the players thought it gave them an advantage…. Major League Baseball even artificially changes baseball seasons…. Just look at 1987 and the juiced baseball…. I don’t like Bonds but I don’t care even a little bit that he took roids,…. Maybe one day the veterans will put them in the Hall where they belong.

I know a lot of you guys like Dan Carlin and his Hardcore History podcast. He's a big college football fan...Colorado guy. He has a crossover episode talking college football on The Solid Verbal. It has a lot of CU talk but interesting to hear his thoughts on realignment.
