If Florida plays offense like they did against Utah we will smother them, our defense looks every bit as good as Utah's and we are definitely a lot more athletic. You say "lost to Utah" and "lost to UNC" as if those aren't top-25 teams in America...
And Houston is pretty decent in their own right.
I'd say UF @ the swamp is every bit of a test as TAMU is at home. A test may not mean a 50/50 game by any means, but it's a legit battle we will have to go and TAKE. Then we have our own mental situation vs USCjr after last season.
And I'm excited to see some legit games. We need to be tested.
Who's Arky St's biggest rival? (Just curious where Lyle's next analyst position will be.)Lyle to Arky State...

this is why I wanted UF to beat Utah. Don’t like being their Super Bowl in the swamp. It’s been 20 years since we’ve won there as it is

Double post. He wrote a song about the time that John Wayne died. It’s appropriate for Jimmy Buffett’s passing as well. My son had just asked me as we were moving him into his college apartment if we could go to a Buffett concert. I promised that we would. Not my family will take a pilgrimage to Key West to celebrate his favorite place instead.RIP Jimmy Buffett
“Can’t believe the old man’s gone,
Think I will ride into Leadville and have me a beer”
Jimmy Buffett got me through med school. I owe him so much! He will truly be missed.
Virginia was selling out to stop the intermediate-deep passing game...so we dinked and dunked, and ran the ball down their throat. If they were keeping a lot of guys close to los, then you would have seen Bazooka Joe unleashed more.Surprised we didn’t see a long ball to Thornton.
And didn’t see a lot of Carter or Seldon.
Can’t wait for next week.
Should see a lot of players.
It seemed like they were content playing coverage and giving us a light box to avoid allowing the stuff over the time…hence why the hitches and screens were there (and why we ran all over them). I don’t know that everyone will play us that way because if you give us the numbers to let us run on you, we’ll do it all day long.Final thoughts from yesterday’s game:
1 - Milton efficient
Milton wasn’t perfect. There were probably four or five passes he would like to have back, but that’s not totally unexpected. No quarterback is perfect. The vast majority of Milton’s throws were on time and on target. He made plays with his legs and clearly played with confidence.
2 - Defensive line: deep and awesome
The defensive line was beyond dominant for the vast majority of the game. It was good to see Pearce make some plays. Tyler Baron got in on the action as well. ONL was disruptive in his debut. Just an all around terrific performance by this unit.
3 - Offensive line
The offensive line was surprisingly good yesterday. Virginia’s defensive line wasn’t very good, but for an offensive line with some question marks coming into the season, it was good to see them own the line of scrimmage.
4 - Special teams
Dee Williams is electrifying in the return game. He had multiple returns yesterday that he nearly took to the house. However, the rest of the special teams was spotty, largely due to nerves in my opinion. I expect this unit will improve significantly from week one to week two.
5 - Wide Receivers
This unit wasn’t “bad”, but they were a little underwhelming. Keyton’s drop is the first mishap to come to mind, but it also seemed as if this unit wasn’t getting the separation we saw Tillman and Hyatt get over the last couple of seasons. I’m not concerned long term about this unit, though. The talent is there. Think this game will serve as a bit of a wake up call for them.
6 - Next up
APSU is the final tune up before going down to the Swamp. Mainly just want to get out of the AP game healthy and see a sharper performance from special teams and receivers. You can bet your bottom dollar we will get Florida’s best shot, so it’s important to go in there confident and playing razor sharp football so that we can deflate the home crowd from the outset.
Go Vols!
I said the same thing before i read through the thread and saw your post. You’re 100% spot onVirginia was selling out to stop the intermediate-deep passing game...so we dinked and dunked, and ran the ball down their throat. I thought what was going on was fairly obvious as they were dropping back on almost every play...but I guess not.
Worship him then...I don't give a crap what he did at a junior college.Seriously?
Might want to look back at Jackson St's recent history...

To say he hasn't earned anything in coaching is absurd. If he had bombed at JSU, he wouldn't be where he is today. He deserved every bit of where he is. And let's not act like being hired at Colorado is some absurd achievement. Far worse coaches have been hired at far better jobs (see: Derek Dooley, now that was an entitlement hire).
