Matt Milton had things to say about ol’ Orange Britches.

For those that liked Dooley in here, and you know who you are, this is the Dooley I saw in person with VFL's at functions they invited me to attend with them back in those days. The guy was deeply embarrassing. I felt very sorry for his wife, who was a class act, and his kids. I felt sorry for UTAD staff underlings who were treated like crap by the guy. I felt sorry for VFL's who wondered WTH was wrong with the guy. I felt really sorry for the players and their families. They entrusted their lives to UT - and UT shiz the bed. But most of all I felt sorry for him. He has gone through life as a wannabe who had no business being a football coach. Lost ball in tall weeds.
He was followed by Botch. After a few years of him, I quit going to events and practices as did the VFL's. Stopped going to games. It was more than I could bear with his psycho antics, who was then followed by Cornbread. More of the same with a different accent.
I say all that because on this Sunday while looking back, it felt like we had wandered in the wilderness for 40 years instead of the 15 or so it was.
Now - I wake up excited for the Big Orange every single day. I highly value what has happened since Randy stepped in. Steady progress that has led to our Vols being elite in major and minor sports with strong academics and the rest of the world finding out it's great to be a Tennessee Vol again. I am blown away at Heup's, Barnes' and Voltello's accomplishments. It's getting hard to name my favorite Vols now - and that's how I know it is all going as it should. I want the same thing for the LV's again as hard decisions need to be made.
Be thankful, not apprehensive. The world will still do the dirty against our guys on occasion like with the Heisman and COY honors. However, even better days are ahead of us and the naysayers will just have to endure our attitudes whether they like it or not. We deserve our time at the top as well.
Have a blessed day Vol family.
