Keep dreaming. We are a long way off from that. In order fir UT to win the SEC Championship, we will have to beat Alabama twice in one season. Tennessee is the only team that has that dilemma. Alabama is not going anywhere anytime soon.Soon enough we will be the team that causes other opponents to question their scheduling. Butch knows this. Our fan base used to be confident in every team scheduled. Soon enough Tux those times will be here again, where a game against us is an expected loss.
@DellengerAdv: #LSU AD Joe Alleva: "Very disappointed leaders of the SEC disregard competitive advantage that permanent partners award to certain schools."
Alleva has been the biggest crybaby in the SEC for awhile now. Aww boohoo you have to play Florida every year. He doesn't understand because LSU has never had a rival.
[The decision to maintain a permanent non-division opponent also presents other advantages:
Creates annual cross-division rivalries that otherwise would not be annual games
Provides each team with a traditional opponent for the final weekend of the season/QUOTE]
i wonder if this means they may debate moveing the permanent game to the last weekend....
Unless the NCAA and the USSC jumps in to disband Alabama football, they are not going anywhere anytime soon.
Georgia plays the weakest SEC schedule year in and year out.
I just don't see Bama dropping off for the forseeable future. It will take Saban retiring and them hiring a dud for that to happen. And even then, the replacement coach could still coast for a year or two off the previous recruits.
It's not like Urban Meyer at UF or any other program that experienced a rapid fall from the top. Saban has an iron grip on that program and is obsessed with not allowing anyone to become complacent.
It may be said that I am dreaming but I think IF we can sustain the recruiting level we enjoyed last year each year for the next 3 years then the 2014 class will have a good shot of taking down bama. We'll need most if not all to stay for their senior years but I think the majority of those guys are just as talented as the guys bama signs. We just need another 2-3 years of highly talented signees in order to catch up with their roster from top to bottom.
Even if we get to the very top, as long as Saban is there, we won't beat him every year, and we certainly won't beat him every year twice. Other teams at worst have to play them once, so even if we get to Bama level, we won't be beating them twice every single year.
