Recruiting Forum: Football Talk XI

Soon enough we will be the team that causes other opponents to question their scheduling. Butch knows this. Our fan base used to be confident in every team scheduled. Soon enough Tux those times will be here again, where a game against us is an expected loss.
Keep dreaming. We are a long way off from that. In order fir UT to win the SEC Championship, we will have to beat Alabama twice in one season. Tennessee is the only team that has that dilemma. Alabama is not going anywhere anytime soon.

Things change in college football very quickly.

Screw Florida. I simply cannot wait until the next time we beat Bama. I really really hope we give them a game this fall. It's time.

Sierra Nevada has this new 4-Way IPA Variety 12 pack out, I highly recommend for your next cookout or social gathering.

Haven't seen this yet, but I'm now betting I will soon. :)

A lot of kids are just going to Bama to win a ring, right now. It's not like they were unstoppable last year. An average season with no SEC championship appearance and things may change pretty dramatically.

Alleva has been the biggest crybaby in the SEC for awhile now. Aww boohoo you have to play Florida every year. He doesn't understand because LSU has never had a rival.

Who do you think he's talking about? Alabama is the winningest football program in the SEC at 832, Tennessee is the 2nd winningest at 804. LSU is at 743. Their permanent rival is Florida at 680. Maybe he judges Tennessee by the last few years instead of looking at the bigger picture. Historically LSU and Florida have always sucked compared to Bama and Tennessee and in my view they can go right back to sucking. Wait. Florida already did that last year. Here's hoping LSU can follow suit this year.

We are Tennessee!!!

(I realize he may not in fact be taking a jab at bama but I think the meme that LSU is a whiner pretty much fits).

I just don't see Bama dropping off for the forseeable future. It will take Saban retiring and them hiring a dud for that to happen. And even then, the replacement coach could still coast for a year or two off the previous recruits.

It's not like Urban Meyer at UF or any other program that experienced a rapid fall from the top. Saban has an iron grip on that program and is obsessed with not allowing anyone to become complacent.

[The decision to maintain a permanent non-division opponent also presents other advantages:

• Creates annual cross-division rivalries that otherwise would not be annual games

• Provides each team with a traditional opponent for the final weekend of the season/QUOTE]

i wonder if this means they may debate moveing the permanent game to the last weekend....

Unless the NCAA and the USSC jumps in to disband Alabama football, they are not going anywhere anytime soon.

Georgia plays the weakest SEC schedule year in and year out.

People saying "no biggie" now need to remember they said that when UGA or USC squeezes into the title game without playing more than a couple ranked teams. Bama football the past 5 years has been the most dominant in history, and even they can't handle a brutal schedule every year.

It's not that we can't win a tough schedule some of the seasons, but the larger problem is that some schools have a cake walk and others have a brutal path, for no reason.

It may be said that I am dreaming but I think IF we can sustain the recruiting level we enjoyed last year each year for the next 3 years then the 2014 class will have a good shot of taking down bama. We'll need most if not all to stay for their senior years but I think the majority of those guys are just as talented as the guys bama signs. We just need another 2-3 years of highly talented signees in order to catch up with their roster from top to bottom.

Even if we get to the very top, as long as Saban is there, we won't beat him every year, and we certainly won't beat him every year twice. Other teams at worst have to play them once, so even if we get to Bama level, we won't be beating them twice every single year.

I don't care if Bama keeps rolling (for lack of a better term). We need to do our part and step up and beat them. Stop having a defeatist attitude. I want this rivalry to match two of the best programs in the country, not a match up of one elite team versus a traditional powerhouse who is down.

Where were you when Manning hit Kent on "play number one"?

You know, LSU could get lucky again or maybe A&M or somebody and then we only have to beat him once most years?

Our problem is we haven't been good in a few years but I believe the rebuilding that is going on now looks to be on the right track. I admit we have a ways to go and I'll be watching to see if we're continuing to make progress but I don't give a damn about the whole state of alabama and never will, and that includes saban.
